Win tickets to see Aliens, play Killzone 2

Sony event, Leicester Square, tonight.

Sony wants to take you to the cinema this evening to watch Aliens and then to play the latest build of PS3 big-gun Killzone 2. That's very kind, especially seeing as 35 pairs of tickets are being given away for free.

The event takes place from 6pm at the VUE cinema in Leicester Square, London. "Real" Helghast soldiers will be marching around to add a bit of drama, and they will be posing for photos and not actually shooting people or repelling invasions.

To win a pair of tickets you'll need to be over 18 and available this evening. Just register on the Killzone website and then email Sony, providing your name, address and contact number. Jokes may or may not be tolerated; we're not suggesting anything.

Names will then be whisked out of a magical Harry Potter hat at 4pm, when the entries close. Winners will be notified in good time. Oh, and travel expenses will not be covered.

The film, which doesn't feature Sigourney Weaver in her underpants but we wish it did, starts at 6pm. The Killzone 2 pods will be in the bar area. Lovely.

If its the Directors Cut they can fuck off.

Yeh I hated all that additional story they added...
  • HarryPalmer #4 3 years ago

    Because I don't like it.
  • Malek86 #5 3 years ago

Is that some kind of HD version or what? Otherwise, I don't see the point. Aliens is awesome, but a lot of people will have seen it already.
  • HarryPalmer #6 3 years ago

I think it's to get people in the zone, but tbh they'd have been better off showing something like The Women, or Sex and the City, to really stir people into a frenzy.
  • quantumsheep #7 3 years ago

Does this suggest that Killzone 2 is hugely influenced by Aliens? (Just like everything else since that film was released!).
  • viper_h #8 3 years ago

Sigourney Weaver was in her underpants in Alien, not Aliens.
  • Widge #9 3 years ago

i wouldn't say so. Well apart from the future and space thing!
  • Canyarion #10 3 years ago

Aliens doesn't have Weaver in her underpants. You're thinking of Alien.

Edit: viper_h beat me to it, by half a minute. :-)

I'd watch the Directors Cut just for the automated gun turrets scene....awesome.

Harry P, though you are fully entitled to your own opinion. Your wrong.

Oh god there's my knowledge of films under scrutiny. GOD ROB YOU IDIOT. It's wishful thinking - Sigourney Weaver was a sexy strumpet back then. You might argue she still is now.

Thanks for pointing it out! Won't happen again I promise sir the hamster ate it my dog pissed on it.
  • lambtron #13 3 years ago

Directors cut is better in every way.

    That is all.
  • jon_egg #14 3 years ago

She comes out of hypersleep in her underpants.
  • Moonprince #15 3 years ago

Harry P you retard. You're doing it wrong.
  • HarryPalmer #16 3 years ago

I probably am wrong yeah. I'm wrong about everything.
  • Triggerhappytel #17 3 years ago

This evening? Well, that's bloody short notice; I would have tried to go otherwise.
  • riz23 #18 3 years ago

Killzone isn't influenced by Aliens. Killzone is influenced by Jin-Roh. They should show that instead.
  • Triggerhappytel #19 3 years ago

Also: Sigourney Weaver was still kinda sexy in Heartbreakers. Watch it; the lovely Jennifer Love Hewitt was in it too ;)
  • Skeletor #20 3 years ago

"Killzone isn't influenced by Aliens. Killzone is influenced by Jin-Roh. They should show that instead."

Have you ever actually seen Jin-Roh? It's not exactly a fast paced or action oriented picture...
Aliens is a good choice and fits the game. Only problem could be that 99% of the people into SciFi probably already seen this one like 100 times. Anyway, it's on the big screen:-)
  • Widge #21 3 years ago

might have to check out Jin-Roh, looks interesting...
  • DAN.E.B #22 3 years ago

heres an idea why dont they wait till the new ALIENS game comes out then let people watch the ALIENS film?
    or is that too obvious?
  • riz23 #23 3 years ago

Of course I've seen Jin-Roh. 'Action oriented' it may not be but it's a good film nevertheless and visually has more to do with Killzone than Aliens imho. Is there a gamer on the planet who has not seen Aliens already? I think not.
  • kangarootoo #24 3 years ago

"She comes out of hypersleep in her underpants"

There was hypersleep taking place in her underpants? That sounds like a cheeky slight against her sexual prowess :)
  • kangarootoo #25 3 years ago

"Is there a gamer on the planet who has not seen Aliens already? I think not."

Is that not perhaps the point of showing it at this event? If they had said "win tickers to see Jin-Roh", most people would responbd with "What?".
  • kangarootoo #26 3 years ago

  • riz23 #27 3 years ago

Ah whatever. Personally I'm not interested in seeing a film I've already seen like a dozen times. I guess someone will.
  • drumbaby #28 3 years ago

She rubs her sweaty bosom in her underpants after a bad dream in Aliens. Her bosom wasn't in her underpants though.
  • dominalien #29 3 years ago

Heartbreakers is a great film. :-)

And yes, Sigourney Weaver is featured prominently in her underpants in Aliens as well. Just checked.
  • makeamazing #30 3 years ago

Directors cut is great ... as someone else said the auto turrets is brilliant.
  • Thunderbolt #31 3 years ago

How about the Chronicles of Riddick thats more similar to Killzone at least. Well more similar than Aliens anyway
  • FogHeart #32 3 years ago

This thread is starting to read like a Quentin Tarantino film starring Simon Pegg.
  • andromeda #33 3 years ago

despite ALIENS being great - the first film kicks the sequels ass.

Aliens is one of my favourite films of all time, But did not see it in the cinema when it first came out, So this will look and sound great on the big screen.

    Cannot wait.

    see you there EG.

"Aliens is one of my favorite films of all time, But did not see it in the cinema when it first came out, So this will look and sound great on the big screen."

Yeah, same as that. Although I was four when it came out ;)

I love the film though and I can see its influences on Killzone (although moreso on Halo, back in the day). Would love the chance to watch it on the big screen for free.
  • penhalion #36 3 years ago

Directors cut was funny. You suddenly go "WTF they had remote sentry units and explosives and still couldn't beat a single alien?!??"
  • ruttyboy #37 3 years ago

    @ penhalion

Have you even seen Aliens? The clue is in the title.
  • Yakumo #38 3 years ago

So what your saying penhalion, is you haven't really seen it ;)

Aliens, with the sentry guns, is where they face considerably more than just the one alien, likely one for every colonist that was there (except newt).
  • illusiondance #39 3 years ago

what is "favorite"? do they put it in toothpaste?
Anyway, while its true that the directors cut spoils the mystery by explaining the first encounter it does make up for things with the auto-guns.
Overall, its the better film IF you already have seen the regular version (not the "rat-fat son-of-abitch" TV version!)
plus seeing it big screen would give me the shivers.
Incidentally, there will be killzone there. nobody want a go?
  • FogHeart #40 3 years ago

My memory is hazy, but I don't think they showed any shots of the aliens being hit by the sentry guns. It was happening, but alluded to and not displayed. Probably why they dropped the scene from the cinema release, it was probably confusing at the screentest.

I applaud you gentlemen for not using the Hudson cliche so far in this thread. You know the one. I'll put on ignore the first person to quote it.
  • Triggerhappytel #41 3 years ago

"My memory is hazy, but I don't think they showed any shots of the aliens being hit by the sentry guns."

They do a couple of times, but the shots are really fast (like half a second) and show very little since the corridor is pretty smoky.

But yeah, anyone actually interested in going for this game, whateveritscalled.
  • illusiondance #42 3 years ago

was it the one about saving some colonists from their virginity?
    cant remember the exact words.

"guess she dont like the cornbread either"
  • kangarootoo #43 3 years ago

I also didn't much like the directors cut. The sentry gun scene was ok, didn't much mind it. Given that we the audience don't know the layout of the ship, its slightly pointless to explain how multiple entry points are protected (though it does set up the "they are in the ceiling" quite well I guess.

The parts I liked less was the way we awere basically told what was going on before the marines had even arrived (the scene that showed the family being attacked by face huggers ). That was just ridiculous. It robs tension from the setup, and gives us nothing in return. its not like everything isn't eventually explained, so there was no value in doing it afaics.
  • Khanivor #44 3 years ago

The most important part of the director's cut - and one of the most insane cuts ever made to any film - was the quick scene where we learn Ripley had a young daughter who grew old and died while she was drifting in the Narcissus. This scene makes Ripley's attitude and actions towards Newt all the more understandable and poignant.
  • makeamazing #45 3 years ago

If you want Aliens quotes, just play COD 4, the script writer just looked at lots of major films and stole all their best lines @_@
  • Brogan #46 3 years ago

But you already knew the aliens were on the planet they were there in the 1st movie and they appear in the title. Was anybody really thinking it was just a movie about deep space telephone repair men?
  • Fab4 #47 3 years ago

I didnt see the comma at first and thought it was a free trip to Area 51.
  • firefly #48 3 years ago

    @Malek86
HD only really applies when you're watching on a television. Film by its very nature is still way beyond even high definition movie formats, also I'd wager most people haven't seen it on the big screen.
