WiiWare gets kung fu and air combat
Plus: tanks, solitaire and French for DSi.
Nintendo has revealed the new arrivals who will be appearing in the Wii Shop and Nintendo DSi shop this week.
First up is Pearl Harbor Trilogy - 1941: Red Sun Rising, priced at 700 Wii Points (around a fiver in the old money). It's a trilogy of air combat games and it features two campaigns from the early years of the Pacific War. Play as the US or Japan and practice your skills with the Avenging Ace and Survival dogfight modes.
Or how about Kung Fu Funk - Everybody is Kung Fu Fighting!, also a WiiWare game and coming in at 500 Points (£3.50). There are three "zany" game modes, plenty of mini-games and a multiplayer mode for up to four players. Nunchuk use is optional, just like in real kung fu.
New to the DSi shop this week is Soul of Darkness (500 DSi Points or £4.50 to you). Vampires, woods, caves, castles, cathedrals, swords, spears, fire, ice, werewolves, gargoyles, zombies, etc. Expect some business with the DSi camera, too.
For 800 Points (£7.20) you can pick up 4 TRAVELLERS, a digital board game which teaches you French while you play. "You compete in a foreign hotel where the goal is to acquire objects, money and friends," the press release explains. Tres bons merci chapeau.
The same money will get you 3D Space Tank. Futuristic setting, evil aliens, intergalactic warfare, surface combat, aerial combat, interplanetary travel, warp tunnels, power crystals, first-person perspective, space, tanks.
If you're on a budget, and easily entertained, 5 in 1 Solitare is just 200 Points (£1.80). "Take five of the most popular solitaire games with you on the go." That's right, there are five, including Klondike, Spider and FreeCell. You also get Golf and Gaps versions of solitaire. Let's hope everyone who plays it does not in fact wear a frown.
