"It's not helped by the baffling decision to map Jim's gun to the A button on the remote, meaning that it's almost impossible to shoot and direct your fire at the same time. Since so many of the game's enemies must be defeated in this way, it makes progress much more frustrating than it needed to be."

O_o

You mean to say that you are playing all these games with the Wiimote??!! What's wrong with the Classic Controller?

My apologies. Don't know what I was thinking. Naivé at best there. We'll probably get the C64 port before the 32X one

Man, the Rowland brothers! What are they doing now? I'd a neighbour that actually bought Mayhem in Monsterland directly from them when it was originally released... my equivalent claim was buying Laser Squad expansions directly from the Gollop Brothers. Seems like a simpler time...

"but what impressed back in 1993 was the way it managed to make the creaky Commodore architecture look and behave so much like an NES"

How can you not know Mayhem in Monsterland?!!! It was awarded 100% in one of the last ever C64 magazines!!! (ok, so I forget the name... so I'm not as cool as I thought...)

Also I thought the difference of this iteration of SFII was well known.

How old are the reviewers on this site?!

I think that's the point, it came out in 1993, by which stage I had already started playing PC games. I loved the C64 in the 80s, but I had no idea it was still having software developed for it in the 90s.

@Darren: they're not ROMs unless they came on cartridge :P

As for that YouTube link.... FFS, Nintendo can't even get a C64 emulator running properly! Sod 'em, they simply don't care about the games they're releasing.

I owned a Wii for well over a year. Scored all the big First party releases, Mario Kart, Galaxy etc. Definitely had fun with those.

So you had fun with a bunch of games, and then you were like "well, that's it then innit? There's no chance any new games are possibly ever going to come out anymore, better sell it!"? That's pretty stupid. Especially with the crapload of great looking games on the horizon. I'd make a list, but let's not. Instead, let's keep it at "sucks to be you".

If EA could sign up that would be a very welcome addition to the Mega Drive catalogue (and it's not like them to turn down free money), and my dream of somehow seeing the Disney games released one day is still there.

Maybe then we could see Desert Strike/Road Rash! Maybe even the original FIFA - so easy to score amazing goals by just taking a random shot from the halfway line and watching the ball glide across the whole opposition half and into the net. Madness but in a good way.

If I had my way, I'd like to see Dataeast's Sidepocket on the VC. I don't know why but I really liked that game. Great in multiplayer too.

Shining Force II - 8/10 -> You have GOT to be kidding me! This game is an absolute classic! And it's probably the best RPG in the Virtual Console since Square/Enix won't ever release theirs and Earthbound hasn't appeared yet.

Mr. Z, way to dodge my main point. The "you had fun with some games then figured none were ever gonna come out anymore" one. You're a fucking idiot. Congratulations.
