Wii Sports Resort sells a million in Japan News

A million copies of Wii Sports Resort have now been sold in Japan.

That's especially impressive when you consider the game has only been out there since 25th June. Data trackers Media Create reported it took just two weeks for WSR to hit the half-million mark.

Wii Sports Resort has also been a hit in Europe. As reported by good old GamesIndustry.biz a few weeks ago, 600,000 copies were sold within a fortnight of release - making it the fourth biggest-selling Wii title to date.

Didn't Dragon Quest 9 sell 2.5m copies in Japan in its first week alone? I know this will have incredible legs and chart for the next five years and become one of the biggest selling few games ever, but its initial sales figures don't seem anything out of the ordinary for a big release.

Hah yes, it's a bundle, so it doesn't count. Nobody wants Wii Sports, the Wii is just a fad, lalala.

What is even more impressive, is that its sales are GROWING. It sold more last week than before that!

It will definitely be bigger than Wii Fit.

the figures are not that big considering the WII hype in general.imo wii sports resort with the M+, is what the original controls should have been like from WIIs launch.anyway lets hope the other console makers dont give up on proper games in their quest for a slice of the casual pie
