Wii Punch-Out! for first-half of 2009

Nintendo whips calendar out.

Nintendo has revealed release dates for lots of major upcoming first-party Wii and DS games.

Most of them we heard about late last year, but a recent financial paper shows some calendar shuffling.

Ridiculously-named DS pedometer game Walk With Me! Do You Know Your Walking Routine? moves forward to 6th February. That's the same day DS observation title Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir launches.

We can expect Pokémon Platinum and Rhythm Paradise this side of 2009, too. Mario & Luigi RPG 3 (working title) and Kirby Super Star Ultra (working title) will turn up later this year.

The DSi, Nintendo says, will be out sometime this spring/summer. Release date at E3, perhaps?

Also of handheld interest are a US date for Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon on 16th February, and the appearance of a Rittai Picross game for Japan on 12th March. We do so love a bit of Picross.

On the Wii side of the calendar, Punch-Out! and New Play Control! Pikmin 2 will arrive in the first-half of 2009. And we're told Wii Sports Resort will arrive sometime this year - as will working titles Sin & Punishment, Another Code R and Endless Ocean 2.

The list also confirms Chibi Robo for a Wiimake under the New Control Play! brand.

Third-party US and Japan dates follow, but there's little of interest from a European perspective; the big-hitters carry dates for our region already.

    Chibi Robo! Awesome, can't wait.

Hopefully the 3rd parties will booster the Wii a bit this year, already a few promising titles floating about.

I have only seen one copy of Fire Emblem DS since it was supposedly released here.

    @Nick_

Wii Punch-out acually looks quite good. I have fond memories of the old arcade cabinet.

What with Mad-World and Punch-out the Wii is almost churning out good titles this year :)

2 titles a year - more than generous!

2 titles a year is 'generous'?

What planet do you come from?

So glad I sold my Wii!

    /sigh of relief

This is worth a nosey for 2009 Wii stuff...

Quite excited about PES 2009, Wii Sports Resort, Mad World and Endless Ocean 2 myself, and quite a few WiiWare titles if they finally sort out storage issues.

Is it me or are the names of Wii games getting even more stupid: Walk With Me! Do You Know Your Walking Routine? and New Play Control! Pikmin 2 are a couple of examples.

And who the fuck wants to a buy a game about walking anyway. Nintendo must be really reaching for new fads now.

/waits patiently for Mad World and hopes it's good

    @Cloudane

Planet sarcasm. I believe it orbits the galaxy lowest form of whit.

However let's face it. The Wii is hardly the most prolific console when it comes to great games.
  • Golgo #9 3 years ago

@RexRunti. Quite so, walking is such the 'new fad'. It'll never catch on if you ask me.

Good grief, that's a bleak first party Wii line-up.
  • Razz #11 3 years ago

    Seriously, where the huff is F-Zero Wii? ;_;
  • CallousB #12 3 years ago

"Seriously, where the huff is F-Zero Wii"

If Nintendo had any sense they would release it under the name Mario Kart Future (and have a seperate mode with all the regular f-zero characters/ships to stop the hardcore from whining). Guaranteed 10 million seller then.
  • Razz #13 3 years ago

Actually I read somewhere that Monster games are working on it. I hope it comes out this year.
  • Burkey123 #14 3 years ago

Where the hell has Nintendo's games gone to? Kid Icarus, F-Zero and Star Fox? I really thought Kid Icarus would have been announced by now :(
Madworld and Deadly Creatures do look solid though from a 3rd party perspective. Ah well, hopefully they announce some really good stuff at E3. Maybe even at Iwata's speech thing in March.
  • varsas #15 3 years ago

Personally I have no problem with the Wii first party line-up since I don't have a whole lot of times to play games these days and as a DS owner too there are lots of titles to play before I even think about something new.
  • electrolite #16 3 years ago

Good, but it would be nice to see some West-ward movement on their other stuff-Cosmic Walker, Takt of Magic etc. Without the NPC! stuff their first-party schedule would be looking horrendously barren so good job some 3rd-party's are attempting to step up to the plate. Plenty of promising stuff with hopefully more to come at E3

Some unbelievable software sales numbers in that report-even the likes of Mario Super Sluggers and Wii Music are well into 7 figures. Jaysus.

@ Burkey-weren't Factor 5 doing Kid Icarus? Not good.
  • dr_faulk #18 3 years ago

Boy have Nintendo fallen from my frontal lobe...

Actually, that's a lie. I'm still playing Civ Revolution on the DS, and I love the DS, as much as anything.

I'm surprised no one is thrilled Another Code R is in the list -- that wasn't confirmed for a release outside of Japan to my knowledge...
  • Toadie48 #20 3 years ago

Wii punch out looks okay but, meh. Might check out Mad World when that shit eventually is released and maybe even the Conduit. Am I the only 1 that doesn't like the name, The Conduit. Meh I don't really like the sound of it... Con-dui-it. But the game should be good and thats what really matters!!!
  • Stardusted #21 3 years ago

DS pedophile game "walk with me" ? I see nintendo expanding sales to new categories of potential buyers
  • Burkey123 #22 3 years ago

    @ electrolite

There were rumours but nothing has been officially announced. Not yet anyway.

    >The DS line up destroys the Wii line up, it really is weak.

    &

    >2 titles a year is 'generous'?
    >What planet do you come from?

It's their announcemnt for the first quarter.. Just a thought... How many games are (i dunno.. lets pull a name out of the hat) microsoft publishing in the same period of time?

Also remember that nintendo have a habbit of releasing games without much notice (mario kart last year for example)..

Oh but i forget... It's "cool" to bash on nintendo at the moment isnt it? Carry on you sad bastards.

Indeed. Everyone has a shitty lineup cause it's too early to be announcing your intentions for Q3/Q4 or even Q2 really. If 2009 still looks shitty post-E3, then i'll join the complain-a-lots around here. Not that i'd ever sell a current gen console. That's just silly.

Also, good to see Chib robo getting some love. I wont be getting it as I played it on Cube, but if you haven't (yes, YOU), then you should give it a go.

  • smelly #25 3 years ago

    >Also, good to see Chib robo getting some love.

I didnt play it on cube.

Will play it on wii if they do the controls well..
  • smelly #26 3 years ago

    >Maybe even at Iwata's speech thing in March.

    Gawd!

Here we go again.. gamers not understanding that gdc is a DEVELOPERS conference... And expecting lots of new announcements.. followed by lots of posting on forums by idiots who dont get it going "nintendo suxorz they announced nothing new.. lolz" etc etc.
  • gudnikristinn #27 3 years ago

ANOTHER CODE R.....I have been using all my mental powers to get it here! The secret does work.
