Holiday fanatics hoover up console.

Online auctioneer eBay has revealed the Nintendo Wii as the most popular product on the entire site.

The console attracted the highest number of searches across all categories, and flogged an enormous 3171 units over 24 hours on Black Friday - the shopping day that follows Thanksgiving.

The average selling price of a Wii on eBay is USD 349 (GBP 236), which is USD 100 above the RRP.

Wii Fit was the second-most searched for product, with 1059 units sold on Black Friday. The average price of the balance board game is USD 100 (GBP 68).

Nintendo has struggled to keep up with demand for consoles and peripherals since release. This year is shaping up to be no different, with The Telegraph and GamesIndustry.biz both reporting widespread demand for the Wii and out-of-stock Wii Fit.

Other popular eBay items include the PlayStation 3, Rock Band 2 instrument bundles, and Spandex leggings if we've got anything to do with it.

What the hell is a "holiday fanatic"?

Are those the people who glue glowing snowmen to their rooves and cover the inside of their homes in fair lights? I'm not sure they are the same people buying Wii consoles on eBay.

Who the hell would pay $100 over RRP for a product which, coming from an N-tard, is frankly incredibly overpriced in the first place?
If I were a dad and the Wii was sold out, I'd give my kids an SOU (Santa owes you).

Are eBay marketing press releases news now?

Regarding the issue of sales prices on average being higher than RRP. That's a particularly misleading statement. If somebody is selling their Wii they're probably also ditching all their games and peripherals perhaps all in one bundle, of course the average sales price on auctions will be higher than RRP.

The US are mental for the Wii. In the UK, you can easily get one, it's just Wii Fit that's hard to get. Too many American chathosts playing showing the Wii off and that they're fat.

I did my part in the UK and bought a second Wii on eBay, though it is Japanese to be fair and I paid way under RRP. I even got a game with it - yay eBay!

Well for all those moaning your Wii's a waste of money here's probably one of your last chances to get some cash with it by putting it up for auction! But as I've said before they're all being kept by most people because they clearly know over the next 12-18 months we'll have the hardcore games Nintendo have promised.
