What's Jade Raymond up to these days?
Ubisoft boss sings woman's praises.
Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot has offered the first hint at what Jade Raymond's plans are now Assassin's Creed is out of the way.
Raymond, you may recall, worked as the producer on the game, and received much attention for being a hot lady. Or, hey, just for being great at her job, as Guillemot would have it.
"I view Jade as a very skilled and creative producer," he told GameDaily.
"The success of Assassin's Creed leaves no doubt about that and the attention she received from the media is due to the anticipation, buzz and quality of the game."
As for what's next: "She's currently working on a new project but it's a little too early to share more about it."
Could it be a sequel to Assassin's Creed? No one's saying anything, but Guillemot certainly sounds keen on the original. "We have never received as many compliments from gamers as we did for Assassin's Creed. Some might dislike certain aspects of the game, but it undoubtedly brought a radically fresh and innovative take to the adventure genre," he observed.
"This game shows that our industry has reached a new level, and I'm not really surprised that it gets polarised critics, just as a strong movie would. As you know, such a success with a totally new IP which took so many risks in order to redefine the genre is unprecedented."
You can read what it was about Assassin's Creed that polarised Tom over in his review.

This:
Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot has offered the first hint at what Jade Raymond's plans are now Assassin's Creed is out of the way.
Then this:
As for what's next: "She's currently working on a new project but it's a little too early to share more about it."
Don't really follow, do they!?
Anyway, the main thing I hope Jade / Ubisoft take on board are some of the criticisms levelled at Assassin's Creed about mission variety. It'll be interesting to see if/how the PC version attempts to address some of that with the new ideas it has plumbed in. A sequel to AC that irons out some of those problems would be very welcome indeed.
As would a sequel to Beyond Good & Evil, but that's another matter.

Wasn't it enough that there were 5 news articles about her every day when she was actually doing something?
Now EG gives her headlines even when she ISN'T?

Jade (Not that she isn't actually good at her job) is probably in hiding or UBI has her protected from press/backlash which I think is fair. As she was obviously put out there as a pretty face to generate some PR for the game, while some of the criticism is deserved as, at the same time in her many interviews she tried to create the impression that the game was something that it was never going to be.....
To the hardcore, that just doesn't go down to well!

The game wasn't even any good. Visually impressive, sure, but oh so very shallow.

I think it's slightly shameful of Ubisoft pushing her out into the public eye the way they did for Assassin's creed though. It was blatantly obvious why they did it and I feel it's an insult to herself and us the games buying public. Feel free to correct me but as far as i've seen most producers don't get put into the spotlight in quite the same way until they've had a successful title or two under their belt. She may well be very talented but I don't think she'll be able to escape this persona of the "hot AC lady" now.
Also, what happened to that bald guy they claimed was co-producing it in the early PR shots of Jade?

(Of course if you have previous Producer experience, then feel free to slag away
Re AC and Jade, if Ubi had actually let Jade and the team focus more on the game than on endless PR building expectations the product couldn't meet, AC might have avoided the shortcomings it shipped with.

If you removed any part of a development team, the wheels would fall off and games couldn't be made. Maybe you've had a bad experience, or maybe you are just supposing at the sky. I'm inclined to say "get over it", but I don't want to be that arsey... err, so I'll bung some smilleys on the end or something.
Either way, a good producer is invaluable to development and a joy to work with. Bad producers are not, but then nobody is if they suck at their job and freeload or produce bad results.

"Some might dislike certain aspects of the game, but it undoubtedly brought a radically fresh and innovative take to the adventure genre"
I’ve read some reviews but none of them gave me the impression that there was anything fresh and innovative to the game besides an awful pseudo-SF plot and related contrived play mechanics.

It's the kind of thing the Sun used to do, mention the age of a woman as though it were an important fact that impacted on the story somewhat...

A good producer enables everyone else to do their job properly, so the title gets finished on time and to budget, with quality maintained because losses are minimised. They are crucial to any project of significant scope.
I am 33 (as we are all bonding so well).

Oh, someone tell this guy to fuck off. So, for their next new massively-hyped IP, hows about they roll out an obese, sweaty, hairy man [who worked on the game] instead, to prove a point?
This is a complete non-news story. "I can tell you Jade's working on a game, but I can't tell you what game that might be!" Fucking useful.
