Watchmen coming to XBLA tomorrow News

Xbox 360 News by Ellie Gibson

3 March, 2009

The videogame tie-in for new movie Watchmen is being released on Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow.

Watchmen: The End Is Nigh sees you hunting down Underboss, who has escaped from prison. Playing as Rorschach or Nite Owl, you must scout the alleys and rooftops and take out up to 20 enemies at a time.

There are six chapters in the single-player game, and you can also play co-operatively or competitively via the split-screen multiplayer mode.

Watchmen: The End Is Nigh will be available on Xbox Live from 9am GMT this Wednesday. It will set you back 1600 Microsoft Points (GBP 13.60 / EUR 19.20).

The game is also due for a release on PlayStation Network, and will presumably be available when the PSN Store gets updated on Thursday. There's no word on how much it'll cost just yet.

A lot of XBLA games seem to be priced over 800 points these days. 1600 is too much for me.

I loved Watchmen when I read it... Bugger... Nearly 20 years ago. There are still images in my head from it. It's one of the most gob smackingly brilliant stories told in the last 30 years, irrespective of media.

It looks seriously good for a download though. Seriously good.

Although its existence probably gives Alan Moore a hernia.

Could be worse for Alan Moore. I was half expecting them to make a kart racer out of it.

1600 is just too much. Will never buy any DL game for that as long as I can get most retail games at the same price.

I've still got like 3000 points burning a hole in my digital wallet, so I'll probably end up getting this.

Love Watchmen but not enough to spend 1600. Would have been a sale at 800 as well. Stupid, greedy pricing.

I dont fully agree with this because the games on XBLA is of higher quality than before. I gladly pay more for games of higher quality. 400 point games like Timepilot and Rally X arent released anymore. I think 400 points for a game like Rally X is more expensive than 1200 for games like Braid tbh.

this is absolute BS. look at what Rockstar gives you for 1600 points - anybody giving you less than that while still asking the same money is taking the piss

reduce it 1200 and i might get it. good beat 'em ups are rare these days, so this could be a good bit of filler until Batman AA arrvies

At about 800, this looked good enough a brawler it might have been an impulse buy.

At 1600? LOL!

1600 points is way out of impulse buy territory. It will need a pretty fugging impressive demo to tempt me at that price, especially considering most retail games can be found for close to that price within a few months of release.

The pricing is really taking the piss and given that it's an episodic title it'll probably end up costing more than a full blown retail release to buy it all. Oh and the co-op isn't online.

I'm a huge Watchmen fan but this is most certainly not a purchase.

It's a joke, based on a reference to the Watchmen comic book.

It's a shame because as someone said this looks brilliant for an XBLA title...but not 1600 points brilliant.

I would have brought it at about 800, so they have talked themselves out of a sale or two I am guessing.

Considering many cinemas are refusing to show it because they can't afford the prices being demanded for the reels, I wouldn't lay this pricing soley on Microsoft here...

Well, considering fox is raping the shit out of warner brothers for a large chunk of the films profits, maybe that explains why they feel they have to charge more. Doesn't mean that makes it worth it though.
