im losing track of the mmo's you like Iok ;)

I always love the efforts most mmos go to for special events. It really adds to the games and from a social aspect its something you can't find in any other game :)

i'll give you a breakdown of the current market and my views:

LOTRO - love it, still playing it and think it's the best one I've played in years.
CoH - great stuff, but a more casual kind of thing for me. I play it on and off then get bored but always come back to it.
WoW - played it for years, appreciate it for its good points, but find it too repetitive.
WAR - never played it, have no interest in it, as it seems like WoW Lite to me.
AoC - piece of shit.
EVE - bored me to tears when I tried it years ago. Felt more like The Interactive CD ROM of Space than a game...

There are loads of others I played too, but that's the "current" market according to me.

But anyway, I just think it's nice that the devs are putting some effort into proper content around this time of year and giving people something nice (rather than the fabulously useless mammoths in AoC. OH NOES, I'M AN ANTI-FUNCOM TROLL AGAIN... /eyes)

I tried to complete the Heavy Metal tasks to get early access, but as I'd not levelled up with everyone else, it was almost impossible to do it without enough other players to be around for PQ completion and PvP stuff. Been trying to get into a scenario for hours to no avail. Slags.

Wow Lite? Hahahaha.

The irony, man. :D

/can't play WAR at the moment as they won't take my prepay credit card. Apparently even though both parties have my address and I have a physical card I have a virtual card and no address. Twatberries.

I mean in terms of its focus and advancement and the audience they're going for.

I know all about Warhammer's history (I bought the original game rules back in 19nicketty noo) and Blizzard being "inspired" by the old pnp game. I'm not just a videogames geek, you know... :)

Is the combat still 'spongy' or have they improved it?

Looking forward to trying the new patch. I keep trying (and failing) to fully get into this, in some ways it's my own fault as I play WoW and LOTRO too. I have also bought L4D AND GTA4 this week.

But.... I want to, but just cannot get motivated to push for more with this. It is always so disappointing when I can't complete PQ's or take strategic points because no other bugger is around to help! I really do want it to succeed, maybe the patch will help?

Also, come on where's da main man? ;)

I agree with apol - WAR is good but is hugly dependent on the size of the server pop - This is WAR's biggest issue atm - too many servers not enough players, seeing as theres 50 servers with a large world just in the EU, kinda don't need all 50 right now :)

and lol @ 'WoW lite' considering WoW's core gameplay requires interaction with NPCs, WAR's core gameplay requires interaction with players - They aren't and wont be the 'lite' of either, in fact I tend to see both stronger in one aspect but weaker on the other between PVP and PVE

Can't wait to roll a Knight of the Blazing Sun, a Witch Hunter is awesome but no substitute for a tank.

WAR wan fine in Vista on my 1st gen MacBook Pro where AoC struggled - and the art style of the former was way better. Crafting was a sucky money sink, though.

But make a Mac client and I'll reconsider; the Vista partition was nuked to make room for iPhone dev kit.

What's the population on this in, say, tier 1 and 2? I guess it'll get a bump with these new classes, but is there any influx of new players?

Far better than the new classes is the amazing fixes to combat they have done, they have almost completely ironed out all the bugs that made it unresponsive and weak

Too little, too late for me at the moment. Although with nothing else on the horizon if they put in a big effort then I might come back to it.
