Warhammer Online adds new careers
Early access now, everyone else next week.
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning has added two new character classes, the Knight of the Blazing Sun and the Black Guard, in its latest patch this week.
For now, they're only available to players who completed the Heavy Metal live event. But according to Mythic, they'll be added for everyone next week.
This means that next week will see the release of the game's first major update, Game Update 1.1.0. We already know that this release will include a revamp for open-world realm-versus-realm play, as well as new quest chains, Lairs and Tome of Knowledge unlocks.
In the meantime, this week's patch brings a raft of changes to existing careers, with nine of them getting full Mastery point refunds to make the most of their new builds. There are also a number of fixes to the responsiveness and animation of combat, which was one of our principal complaints when we reviewed WAR back in September.
Look out for our first re-review of Warhammer Online early in the new year.

I always love the efforts most mmos go to for special events. It really adds to the games and from a social aspect its something you can't find in any other game

LOTRO - love it, still playing it and think it's the best one I've played in years.
CoH - great stuff, but a more casual kind of thing for me. I play it on and off then get bored but always come back to it.
WoW - played it for years, appreciate it for its good points, but find it too repetitive.
WAR - never played it, have no interest in it, as it seems like WoW Lite to me.
AoC - piece of shit.
EVE - bored me to tears when I tried it years ago. Felt more like The Interactive CD ROM of Space than a game...
There are loads of others I played too, but that's the "current" market according to me.
But anyway, I just think it's nice that the devs are putting some effort into proper content around this time of year and giving people something nice (rather than the fabulously useless mammoths in AoC. OH NOES, I'M AN ANTI-FUNCOM TROLL AGAIN... /eyes)

The irony, man.
/can't play WAR at the moment as they won't take my prepay credit card. Apparently even though both parties have my address and I have a physical card I have a virtual card and no address. Twatberries.

I mean in terms of its focus and advancement and the audience they're going for.
I know all about Warhammer's history (I bought the original game rules back in 19nicketty noo) and Blizzard being "inspired" by the old pnp game. I'm not just a videogames geek, you know...

But.... I want to, but just cannot get motivated to push for more with this. It is always so disappointing when I can't complete PQ's or take strategic points because no other bugger is around to help! I really do want it to succeed, maybe the patch will help?
Also, come on where's da main man?

and lol @ 'WoW lite' considering WoW's core gameplay requires interaction with NPCs, WAR's core gameplay requires interaction with players - They aren't and wont be the 'lite' of either, in fact I tend to see both stronger in one aspect but weaker on the other between PVP and PVE

But make a Mac client and I'll reconsider; the Vista partition was nuked to make room for iPhone dev kit.
