Warhammer 40k: DOW II gets free DLC News

PC News by Ellie Gibson

15 October, 2009

THQ has released The Last Stand, a free downloadable content pack for real-time strategy title Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II.

The add-on features a new co-operative survival mode that lets you control an individual hero unit - either a Space Marine Captain, Eldar Farseer or Ork Mekboy. You must then team up with the rest of your squad to hold out for as long as possible as you face endless waves of attackers.

The Last Stand also comes complete with an automatic update which includes two new multiplayer maps, balance updates and bug fixes.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II scored a healthy 8/10 on Eurogamer when it was released back in February. Read our review for the full lowdown.

I played 6 games and was instantly an addict; the key is to play it with friends and voice chat.

Wave 9 is a bastard (Silly Eldar, that's a LOT of banshees), Wave 10 is silly (50 plasma guns, YAY), Wave 12 is where we're stuck at the moment. JESUS CHRIST ELDAR, HOW MANY WRAITHLORDS!?

its awesome, level 9 is a bitch, but when you reach a few levels higher you can beat it quite good, we managed to get to level 17 today :)

Its really a lot of fun, and i can't wait till I can pick my Chaos Lord when the expansion releases :P

Played 3 games, came unstuck at level 10.

9 isn't bad if you have the Farseer- get them to cast the confusion spell on the shuriken plats and they'll gib the banshees and warp spiders.

10 I struggled with. I figured best bet is to garrison your Ork player but they still moe you down.

Yep. The game is a PC game which is why its free and should not even be given the title "DLC" Guess these guys are so used to console games and the milking that they don't see a difference. To me, DLC is distinctly a console disease.

Hear hear, I remember Total annihilation getting a free pack and all that stuff. Corporatism.. yeah.. great

*edit* now they try to pay you extra to unlock stuff hidden on the very disc lololol:D Maybe I should find another addiction, this is getting pathetic.
