Hurrah.
Good thing is... it's going to be a very different game to STarcraft 2 so plenty of reasons to have both!

I've never played such a fantastic RTS as CoH, for the whole package. It's simply the best out there.

Anyway, we have some hi-res version of those screens here if you want to look a little closer:

I really hope they deliver a decent single player campaign for this.

I can understand that people are underwhelmed by the screenshots. But this is an RTS. And these screens are better than any other RTS I have seen so far.

I'm expecting Eldar and Tyranids as at least the other two races, to be unveiled at some point. Space Elves are popular and they along with humans and Orks have fought against the Tyranids in large scale battles in 40K lore. Would make an interesting campaign, and all 4 are different in style so would make a good starting point for the multiplayer.

Interesting but unless in multiplayer I fear it won't be fun.
You'd need some pretty advanced AI or scripting. In the latter case the missions would become puzzles instead of a strategy game.
What you describe can be found in the skirmishes of Total:war and to be honest they are not that much fun. (in my humble opinion of course)

yeah looks amazing graphics-wise, but i have to agree defdaz's rant. want a 'proper' wh40k game, with the proper wh40k rules from the tabletop version, not an adaptation of those rules that makes it like every other RTS around...

@DefDaz, that just wouldn't work. You'd have to be able to see the entire map before you start the game, which takes the exploration fun out of it, and the maps would be a lot smaller. IIRC, spotty geeks normally play 40K on a table or mat a few feet wide. Iif you put it in proportion to the size of the models in the game the maps would be tiny and very boring.
Also, the missions where you get a limited number of troops are just rubbish, and what you're suggesting is a full game of that. Probably most RTS'ers would hate that too. Building is fun! :-)
p.s. Probably no sign of Nids yet as they'd be keeping them secret until near release. Doubt we'll see much more than Orks and SM for a while. Looks fooking awesome though. Can't wait.

I highly doubt Games Workshop would allow a company to make a conversion of 40K into a computer game. I dont think it would do much for the tabletop sales when you could just play the computer game instead. It just makes sense.

1. Dawn of War sold loads, and I don't think they'd risk changing the formula that much.
2. That's what the tabletop game is for, and I don't think GW would want a computer game that basically supercedes it with a lazy option.
It's a shame, as I've always liked the idea of the tabletop game, but could never be bothered to paint an army.
Edit - Just saw General_Zod's comment!
