Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise dated

Out in time to show Spore who's boss.

Microsoft has announced that Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise will be released for Xbox 360 on 5th September. All you other games might as well give up now.

Trouble in Paradise is the sequel to the Gears of War-smashing Viva Piñata, where you built up a pretty garden and tried to coax animals to come and live in it. Which sounds more sinister than it actually was.

For the game's return to 360, developer Rare has implemented new game modes - as well as the regular sandbox mode, there's one that molests you with tutorials and another that lets you build a garden without having to worry about money or having to unlock things, but restricts your access to certain Piñata.

Speaking of which, there are over 30 new Piñata, and there's a co-operative option, as well as the chance to venture outside your garden in search of rare Piñata, rather than just trying to fulfill various requirements to have them come and join you.

"Put on your mittens and snow shoes as you brave the cold of the Pinartic where you’ll find piñatas that prefer cooler temperatures and the occasional blizzard, like Pengums and Polollybears," says Microsoft.

"Or you can shed the layers and head to the sands of the Dessert Desert, where Camellos and Jameleons bask in the arid sun."

Naturally you'll be able to outfit your garden with things like sand and snow to make these oddly named creatures feel at home.
