Virtuoso Pack for Guitar Hero 3 on Thurs News

Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

22 July, 2008

Activision will release the Virtuoso Pack for Guitar Hero 3 on Xbox Live and PlayStation Store this Thursday.

The pack is made up of three songs from accomplished shredders: "Surfing with the Alien" by Joe Satriani, "For the Love of God" by Steve Vai, and "Soothsayer" by Buckethead.

There's a bonus Buckethead song called "Jordan" available in the Guitar Hero 2 area if you want a taste of what to expect. On Xbox 360 you get an Achievement for beating it on Expert. We can only finish it on Hard.

Anyway, you may remember Steve Vai for his "Halo Theme (Mjolnir Mix)" in Halo 2. You can download this as a free add-on for the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero 3.

For which, of course, Track Packs cost 500 Microsoft Points (GBP 4.25 / EUR 6.00) on Xbox Live and GBP 3.99 on the PlayStation Store.

You must be seeing things! The only other explanation is that somehow this appeared five minutes earlier than it should have. Cough.

Grin too wide for face,
Fingers twitching crazily,
Joe and Stevie rule.

Sorry about that, the announcement caused me to spontaneously break in to Haiku.

Won't happen again I promise.

Haven't put the GH3 disk in nearly a year, since I can use my GH guitar for multi-play in Rock Band but not vice-versa... Activision, please take note? Anyway, maybe this will compel me to take another look at GH3.

That pretty much sums up the difference between GH3 and Rock Band.

Unnecessarily difficult showing off vs. drunken fun for everyone.

Well I haven't played Rock band but am going to pick it up when it's cheap, but GH2 and 3 give the friday night regulars plenty of intoxicated fun. Admittedly hard and expert have some serious difficulty spikes especially on GH3.

Fretwankery is right, there are people out there who enjoy fretwankery though. Like me, Rock Band guitar bores me rigid. It's great having mates round but we fight over who's playing drums.

Roll on Thursday \o/

Didn't realised you played Farticus!

Golgo, Buckethead may look like a mentalist, but he's an extremely talented musician...taught by Paul Gilbert, no less.
