Virtual On hitting XLBA this spring

Exclusive to Xbox service.

SEGA has confirmed reports that it plans to bring Cyber Troopers Virtual On Oratorio Tangram - better known to most as Virtual On - exclusively to Xbox Live Arcade this spring.

Based on the arcade version of the second game in the mech fighting series, the XBLA release promises 15 Virtuaroids to choose from in single-player, one-on-one multiplayer (online or off), and ten arcade-mode and 14 score-attack levels.

You can see how it's shaping up in our Cyber Troopers Virtual On Oratorio Tangram screenshot gallery. Sorry, we just like typing the name. Cyber Troopers Virtual On Oratorio Tangram. Rrrr.

Incidentally, if you can't place the name, perhaps you should consult page three of our recent Dreamcast Cult Classics feature, where it joins the likes of Trigger Heart Exelica and Seaman in permanent fame.

Look out for a review of Virtual On - oh go on then, Cyber Troopers Virtual On Oratorio Tangram - this spring.

Loved this on the Saturn, but it was bloody confusing (for me) at the time.

Looking forward to the update :)

I never got round to playing the DC Virtual On (one of the few highly-rated DC titles I didn't acquire), so this might be a good opportunity for me to catch-up.

Some decent titles released and coming to XBLA, which is a relief as there's not many AAA boxed titles out on on the horizon for 360 (given that Halo Wars and Resi'5 5 didn't quite match my expectations....)

Oooh that's a nice release, never liked Virtual On myself but could see the appeal.

Anyway more of this kind of thing SEGA your arcade games rock and XBLA needs a boost!

Awesome! I'd also love to see a nice shiny version of Jet Set Radio and Space Channel 5, come on Sega!

Oh, and Crazy Taxi, and Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 and NiGHTs and Daytona USA!

This is great news. There's a video of it at gametrailers.com

There's no excuse for Sega not to release Crazy Taxi onto XBLA and PSN really as the game was only around 120-130mb for the Dreamcast anyway. Even Powerstone was only around 140-150mb - that would be perfect for Xbox Live!

It's really odd but you know what I'd like to see up on Live, I never ever played it in the arcades and would really like to play that Sonic Fighters. I don't know why it's probably really bad but I dunno smashing Sonic's face in seems...tempting....

Oh and Powerstone (although technically actually Capcom), Die hard Arcade, SR2, Crazy Taxi, Daytona, Scud Race, Star Wars Racer Arcade......

/ slips off into a XBLA SEGA heaven.

Screenshots certainly do this justice. Loved it on the DC, will hopefully love it even more on XBLA! \o/

Hopefully this will signal an onslaught on classic SEGA content on XBLA. Daytona USA, NiGHTS, Space Channel 5, Burning Rangers, Crazy Taxi and Die Hard Arcade would be a nice start.

Excellent! Loved this on the Saturn. Never played the DC version so should be new to me. 1200 points though..... Wil have to think about it.

Now give us Daytona 2 with full online support & Scud Race please :D But Daytona 2 especialy. Been dieing for a home release of that for years.
  • GamesConnoisseur #11 3 years ago

Also never played this on DC, although I did play quite a lot DC games!

Looking forward to this on XBLA but wondered why exclusive to XBL and not PSN? As Sega is a multi platform publisher? Timed exclusive or Sega happy to take MS wad of cash?

as i have no 360 i should be pissed, but i got this on DC so screw you Sega. as a niche title *ahem* giant japanese robats fighting each other... i can't see the benefits of having this as an exclusive.

I hope this opens the flood gates to more DC releases, as many people have said there are loads of excellent games out there! Including some obscure ones.

Hopefully Capcom will do it, hmmmmmmmmm Marvel Vs Capcom 2! Would definitely play that!

    YAY!!! Cyber Troopers VIRTUAL ON!!!!
Loved this on the Saturn although the tech limitations of the old black box did drag it down a bit. Couldn't get it on the DC as never had a sexy red spiral Jap version so this is essential now.

Agree with everyone on here, come on SEGA bring back some of that old spark and stop watering down all those great idea's.

OMG Jet Set Radio please please please!!........the original Nights.....and Panzer Dragoon Saga (keep dreaming I know).
