Looks pretty bland, but I guess that's not the point.
Actually it looks prety good, I just need more things happening on the screen or something to be impressed.

VF games suck anyway imo :)

Virtua Fighter takes a while to 'click'...but once it does, it's the best fighter out there.

    Errr...sorry for stating the obvious!

VF only sucks for button mashers.

    true tekken it aint!

Why are the pics here so crap in quality. I've seen VF5 pics elsewhere that look really fantastic and clear, why these ones are so blurry I don't know. :s

either way this is another example of the shit the PS3 might be churning out, I may have to cancel my pre order. Just like the PS2, they promise amazing graphics and do not deliver.
    SSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTEEEEEEEEEE

Most of the new stuff i've seen on the 360 looks ten times better. I think i'll have one of them and a wii and have double the fun.

Well no one could accuse you of being a fanboy now could they?

This looks better than DOA4 that's for sure. And try looking at MGS4 and saying it looks like shit.

JediMaster: Those images at playsyde are downscaled, that’s why they look “sharper” and you can’t spot the “flaws” as easily. If you scale those shoots up to 720p resolution, they will look worse than these pics shown here.

They're analogue output not framebuffer captures for the latest training shots at least but I remember some of the earlier releases being a little blurry too. You can tell because not only are they slightly blurry but there's pixelly artifacting (not jpeg artifacting) especially noticeable on the bright reds and greens of the UI graphics. At a guess I'd say SoA have builds that they whack new sets of shots out from but can't or don't know how to take crisp framebuffer shots.

Yay, shiny plastic people! Don't you just love them. It's nice to see that VF on the PS3 is using the DOOM3 engine to render it's characters.

Oh for the love of God why do so many people talk so much bollocks about VF?

    1. It pisses over Tekken, Soul Calibur and DOA. No really, I'm sorry it does. If you don't agree I'm afraid you either don't understand how to play it properly (there's so much more to it than button bashing ya know) or you are a spaz.

    2. It looks feckin' brilliant. I don't see how it looks any worse than any other next gen titles.

    3. We seem to be getting a weird combo of anti Sega Zealots+Anti Playstation Zealots (surely thats a contradiction in terms if there ever was one) giving the usual biased twit "yadda yadda I hate this game for no real reason other than I'm up my own sad arse" mental age of a 13 year old school boy routine. Grow up.

    4. I've also heard people slag this off as unoriginal. Strangely I don't see many of the same people slagging off other unoriginal sacred cows out there such as Zelda (hasn't improved since the N64), Pro Evo Soccer (barely improved since the PS1), Halo (never original in the 1st place), shall I keep going? Better not I'll just upset more people.

    5. People do not realise how revolutionary the VF series has been. For starters we may have had 3D beat em ups but they would probably have all still played like 2D ones-VF changed more than just graphics, it showed how 3D could produce new gameplay. Indeed if this and the other Virtua games hadn't happened 3D might never have taken off in the same way they did. The fact that many supposedly more modern alternatives fail to improve to improve the basic gameplay is testomony to its quality and blows the passed its sell by date arguement out of the water. VF has influenced pratically every game that has 3D combat going, yes even the likes of Zelda, Devil May Cry +God of War have VF gameplay elements in them.
  • waffle #16 5 years ago

they still look like shiny plastic barbie dolls though.
  • pretence #17 5 years ago

Looking forward to playing this in 2011

    You Sir, are a God.

one thing is clear, the virtua fighter series always (ALWAYS) looks rubbish in screenshots... but when you see it running on an actual ps3/ox360 it will be totally amazing. CAN'T WAIT
