Virtua Fighter 360 gets patch

Pest control. And new stuff.

SEGA has tidied up some bits and bobs in Virtua Fighter 5 for Xbox 360.

The spattering of updates are available to grab from Live now, and cover all sorts from pants (you mean trousers you freakin' awesome) to rematches.

On the costume side of things you can now mix trousers and tops, and use additional downloadable items.

Replays of Live fights can be saved these days, you can have a rematch with someone even if they're not on your friends list, and connection speed now shows when people join your game. Gamer pictures will display properly as well.

Better still, when you win the World Tournament Final you are more likely to see non-defeated opponents in arcades. Like the one on Brighton Pier near that ride that makes us sick. Or the one on West Street with Daytona and old ladies and smelly men and tourists silly enough to go in.

Elsewhere some minor bug fixes and better ranking organisation.

Virtua Fighter 5 took a while to make its way to 360, eventually arriving last October, but still scored high thanks to some fresh additions and online battles. It has all the latest arcade changes, for starters, and a DOJO area to practice your punches.

All that's useless without performance enhancing gamer drugs, though.

Up, up, left, down, right to the Virtua Fighter 5 review to find out more.

    Best... Fighting... Game... Ever!

Still, Dojo is crazy dificult, only Achievements I miss.
  • miiiguel #2 4 years ago

Of course not, they did it just for me...

It's funny how we judge the world by our tastes, and I'm not picking on you, everybody does that.

I did... traded the PS3 version in for it actually. Deffo the best fighting game on any platform and the 360 version is the best version IMO.

ok, ok, for me and Darren...

I dont own it but it'll be the first game I buy when I eventually get round to getting a 360.

This patch makes sense to us people that own the game.

Its £25 in places. Anyone know how good the Hori stick is and the cheapest place i can find it? it seems pretty scarce

Glad to see Sega hasn't forgotten about the 360 whilst they ready Version D, hopefully set for another update in the future (that may be pushing our luck though). I hope the items are good as the last two downloads were a bit boring, worth owning though.

It's so easy to waste hours just training in Virtua Fighter 5, I can't imagine spending half the time on any other fighter.

    @JackyB
The stick is pretty decent, I got mine from play-asia.com for just over £30.

cheers, did that total more than £40 Inquisitor? cos its £40 on Amazon. I have plenty on my gaming plate at the mo, but that could be my next indulgence, With SFIV round the corner, and perhaps Soul Calibur, I was wondering if its worth it?

    @JackyB

i have the Hori stick, it does the job and i've heard its £20 in gamestation if any stores have them. i can't imagine playing as Akira (or any other fighter) with a pad so it was my only choice. Obviously it is nowhere near as good as the Virtua Stick High Grade but the game itself is best on the 360. and i agree with everyone who thinks this is hands down the best fighter ever made.

Hori stick is awesome, it really changes the way the game "feels". I mean, it's realy like having an arcade VF machine at home. I always enjoyed fighting games, but I already did +1500 fights in VF5. Never played one this much.
I usualy find plenty of Japanese kids playing it. They're good, though...

Jacky, the stick will - surely - work with SC. It works with SF, and it's also cool to play Pac-Man with it.

Got this game at launch, picked up a Hori stick at Christmas (Gamestation; £20) and its made it exponentially more playable. I'd get a second one if I could find one as it makes the various Street Fighters better too.

Santino and the inquisitor, you have sold me! Unfortunately i live nowhere near a gamestation and they dont have it online :(
All I need to do now is finish the tons of other games then I can get involved
Seems like i missed the boat on a bargain at 20 quid

I've never seen it in gamestation, though that's where I bought the PS3 stick. If you can get it there you'll be better off as (I just checked) it's £40.35 from play-asia. Luckily I didn't pay duty on top of that. Well worth it though as it's great for other fighters and some XBLA games.

I was really hoping that there would be an option to change to japanese dialog.
    The speech is so cheesy!!
  • JackyB #16 4 years ago

Looks like £40 quid then :( but sounds good value even at that price. I need to hurry up and finish Orange box and Lego Star wars. (unwrapping them might be a good start)

Put cheesy, on that! Man, it's so kitsche, it's funny: "I've got the advatange you got nothing!"; "You better start running... now!"; "I have no time for you!".

    LOL!

Palace Pier *actually* don't buy into the West Pier Burning Scum propaganda
  • hybridial #19 4 years ago

Nice patch. I haven't played the game a huge amount yet and I still lose quite a bit online, but I have fun with the game and this patch sounds like it fixes quite a few minor quibbles.

I'm also thinking of picking up a Hori stick at some point, although I am just after importing a new copy of Suikoden III I managed to find, so I might not be able to cover it right now.

"Like the one on Brighton Pier near that ride that makes us sick"

Is that The Mouse? Or is it that "cages on a stick" thing, that I like to call The Flingulator?

Here's a question. I've got the Hori Stick for the 360, and since it's USB is there any way I can use it on the PS3? Because if there is I'd be tempted to get another one. For £20 you can't really go wrong.

Awesome game this, made even better thanks to the Hori stick, which is indeed great for the likes of PacMan CE.

Might try it on Gauntlet later too.

Rematches? Best patch evar! How they failed to implement that in the first place is beyond me. Absolutely the best fighting game around bar none. "Better run home to Momma now!"
