VF5 360 still summer

Sega overrides retailers.

Sega has told Eurogamer this afternoon that, as far as it's concerned, Virtua Fighter 5 on Xbox 360 is still due out in summer.

It was speaking in the aftermath of various retailers changing their dates to later in the year. US outfit Gamestop has pushed its forecast back to October, while UK-based GAME reckons we'll see it in November. But both Play.com and Amazon.co.uk believe it's 28th September that the game will be released. Which is somewhat confusing.

It's also still unclear what the difference will be between the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. We're not sure if Microsoft's fighter will boast the much coveted "Version C" arcade changes, optional analogue control, or improved A.I. And we also have a tiny torch burning for the inclusion of Live multiplayer. Make it so, Sega.

But, what we do know is that the two versions will look almost identical, as our tech-wizard Richard Leadbetter recently found out.

Head over to our PS3 review of the game to find out what you're waiting for.

    This is the most uncertain news item ever!

    When will it be released?
    What will be changed?

    No one knows!

    Was holding out for X360 version of VF5 but got PS3 instead, very good game. But maybe would swop it in for X360 if it indeed the version C and if online as well! Plus achievement points would be a boon!

    That's what he said,, he got the PS3 version. It won't be online though, Sega have said it many many times.

    in 'the' summer! ;)

    Still, the game itself was too 'good' for me. I'm just not a beat 'em up aficionado, I'm afraid.

    Although technically a very good game. I don't give a damn about it. It's just way to anal and boring. Bring on Soul Calibur or DOA5.

    What I don’t understand is how this game could get such a high review score. It doesn’t do anything better than VF4 Evolution, rather the opposite.

    @Les

    I agree, VF5, both in arcades and on home consoles, is a bit of a step back from VF4 Evo and FT. But at the end of the day, it's still right up there with the best 3D fighters you can get. That said, I haven't been able to play Version C - it might be the one which turns it right.

    fighters don't work so good online 'cause of the latency IMO

    If a friend of mine a small small advantage over me when we play on-line then I don't really care tbh. Games like this are meant to be played with your mates, and XBL is designed to play with friends world over, as is the PSN. So what if the games aren't 1,000,000% fair? I'm sure if I'm much better than my friend I'll beat him/her anyway.

    VF rocks my socks, i ended up buying a ps3 and virtua stick to play it cos i couldnt be bothered waiting for the 360 version, and with no word on the virtua stick high grade being compatible and MSofts 3rd party peripheral support nothing short of abysmal i had no choice.

    I bought VF5 the other day, more on the off chance than anything else and absolutely love it. Between this and Tekken 5:DR my interest in fighting games has been successfully rekindled.

    It still amazes me that achievements drive software sales for the 360. It's ridiculous that someone would buy a game they already own for the PS3 AGAIN just to unlock achievements for the 360. I know you probably wouldn't buy it just for achievements GC, but I know some would. I hope Microsoft is paying the person who thought of the idea a lot of money.

    Aaaaaaah... but WHICH summer? Could be australia's summer!
  • Santino #21 5 years ago

    DrunKao, its actually an idea from EA that MS kinda copied and expanded to fit all games on their system instead of just EA sports games. but i generally agree, anyone who cares about achievement points to the extent they would buy 2 copies of a game is kinda sad, and it would in no way make up for if the 360 version doesnt support the virtua stick, as without it i'd say you are missing out big time.
  • Dangher #22 5 years ago

    Has anyone actually thought that the delay maybe due to the fact that they want to release a definitive version of the game on the console of choice? Just a thought.
  • Wobble #23 5 years ago

    If they don't release it at the same time as a decent 360 arcade stick, there really is no point :p
  • davisorle #24 5 years ago

    @DrunKao
    read again what he said. For C he would buy it again since he is so into this game and that achievements is just a plus. So for +online + that yeah its worthy. Like why i waited to play game on 360 rather than on the old xbox back in the days that same games would come out. Better wait for the best.

    Still i dont like VF. DOA is million times better and then goes Killer Instict. Then probably VF but since I barelly play fighting games for a bit when they come out I wouldnt vote for any and specially not for VF but if he likes it. Yeah why not the 360 version since it could only be better and not worse? It does make sence
