Vanguard offers free reactivation

Come back. Was it something it said?

Former players of Sony Online Entertainment's fantasy MMO Vanguard: Saga of Heroes are being offered free reactivation of their accounts to try out the game's latest update.

If you have a subscription that's been inactive for more than 60 days, you can access the game for free until 18th October to see the new starting area, revamped character models and "hundreds" of big fixes in Game Update 6.

However, the only things you can do on the free reactivation are create a new character, and play through the new Isle of Dawn Zone until you reach level 10. To progress further or reactivate your old characters, you'll need to resubscribe.

Activation is automatic, as long as you receive the official Vanguard emails - so if you had an account, you can log into it right now. Full details at the official site.

I wish WOW would offer free reactivation. I miss my rogue ...

    LOL..

For a game with so few subscribers you would have thought that a less limited reactivation package would be a good idea...

I guess it could work, but sound far too limited.
Eve did a similar thing after launch, after I quit I was constantly begged back with offers of free months and so on. I didn't bother as I was fed up with it after the first month. but I imagine some people went back and stayed. after all it seems to be doing okay now.

I find it amusing to see the free playtime offers appear according to mmo release dates. Before age of conan came out, and with that expansion to wow coming, sony got desperate and offered free two months of play for eq2. Now with age of conan a flop and wow mania on the decline, but with war coming, they squeeze just demo play for vanguard.
Not that I'm inclined to try it. Game followed example of typical single player game: hype it as much as you can before the release, and push out unfinished buggy mess with half of the features missing.
I'd rather play ryzom. Much better game, currently on its way to the better future under spiderweb, and also free to play (without hooks or limitations). At least for the time being.
