UT3 on 360 to get fresh content

Five maps, split-screen, new characters.

Epic Games has revealed that the Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament 3 will have new and exclusive content.

According to IGN this will be comprised of five fresh maps, split-screen from the off and two new characters to play as.

Epic is also bundling all of the PC and PS3 downloadable content onto the retail Xbox 360 disc.

Unreal Tournament 3 has no release date for Xbox 360, but we expect an announcement around midnight tonight when the Midway Gamers' Day embargo lifts.

Our man on the ground there is Kristan, so expect his thoughts on all of the action soon.

Meanwhile, pop over to our exclusive Unreal Tournament 360 trailer and gallery to get up to speed.

Split screen? That can't be healthy for the framerate.

    Why not?

Call of Duty pulled it off well...

So does Vegas 2! Oh, wait...

Good stuff. I wasn't interested in this at all on PC or PS3 but I might give it a look in if all the content is on the DVD already.

Because you don't have an internet connection or something?! Just wondering why putting stuff on a DVD instead of free downloads increases interest in a title.

Maybe he doesn't like the hassle of copying stuff to USB sticks?

Not the same as having a version that's readily open to receiving mods.

Is all this extra content just to sweeten the deal as there will be no downloadable mods :S Hope not.... and still no mention of them.

This doesn't interest me at all. Ever since they released Unreal Championship I lost my faith with the Unreal franchise. I wonder if they ever came to an agreement with MS about mods

Sounds like the extra maps thing is designed to appease the lack of mod support outside of the inevitable Epic DLC to follow.
Split screen on UT? In my experience with other games, deathmatch in split screen is less fun if you can see where the other person is.
    I've got a 360 but I'm glad I bought the PS3 version already.

@Les. I don't like the hassle of copying stuff to USB sticks. ;)

USB sticks are only required for the mods. The DLC (which is what's being included on the DVD) goes straight to the HDD. The PC version doesn't require a USB stick for anything (if you have access to the internet of course)...

    >Oh dear. M$'s vice grip on any content going onto the 360 has ruined UT3.

I would argue that Epic has ruined UT3.
  • graffekta #14 4 years ago

Wait sorry... additional content on the Xbox 360 edition?

But... just months ago they were saying how that not everything was going to fit on the one disc. And that's why the PS3 version was better because they had more storage on BluRay and blah blah blah - does this mean that they were just talking shit?
  • Dizzy #15 4 years ago

    >does this mean that they were just talking shit?

Ofc... there has been no (non RPG) game that has needed a Bluray disk yet.

It annoys me - it was such an unnecessary lie.
They could just have stuck with 'Sony paid us lots of money so now we're going to make it a PS3 exclusive at first'. I can accept that.

This time the PS3 version is clearly better:

-More options of control: pad or mouse + keyboard, with support to diferent servers to both options.

-Free acces to downloable free maps and mods of any type.

-Stronger community; I'm impressed about the number of players in this game that plays it with k+m, at least in the eurozone in which I play.

Correction: The PC version is clearly better. It has all the advantages of the PS3 version, with 64 players per map as opposed to 16.

You're right: PC version is better, as usually. I was tarlking about thePS3/360 versions.
