no I think the line "Other classes include There Be Dragons, The Ethics of Star Trek and Beginner's Scrabble: Strategy, Knowledge, and Fun" MUST be taking the piss..

I essentially did a StarCraft course at college 8 years ago. It was supposed to be an IT course, but we just played SC over the network instead of doing any coursework!

The key part is this: "The University of California, Berkeley has begun offering a StarCraft course that rewards students with college credits they can put towards graduating."

It's not a principle course, you just get some credits for doing it. We do something similar at my decidedly UK-based university, where except with especially heavy-duty courses, you need to take little mini-courses like that one in order to get enough credits to pass your first year.

Nobody really takes them seriously.

I did a little research and it's a hoax. There are no courses being taught by Alan Feng at UC Berkeley nor is there anything in the course catalog:

Well if it really is a hoax you should really email EG and tell them to check their facts better next time...
