US Lost Planet PS3 demo back up

Found. Or something.

Capcom has popped the Lost Planet PS3 demo back on the US PlayStation Network.

It was taken down because players were having trouble connecting to lobbies online, which makes testing the multiplayer side of things a trifle difficult.

But that should all be fixed now, and those of you who have mastered the art of pretending you are American can give it a whirl. We're waiting to hear back from Capcom about its European demo plans.

Lost Planet PS3 is due out on 29th February, which is over year later than its original launch on Xbox 360.

Still, it has had some patches and multiplayer maps added to it since then, and Capcom is rewarding you with new playable character Luka for your patience. She is a show pirate with a lovely face.

Look at her, and other Lost Planet things, in our gamepage.

    A "show" pirate you say?

And its being released at a reasonable price, £24.98 at Amazon; that makes it interesting.

PSM3 said that this is a poor port of the 360 version with substantially worst graphics (aliasing and poorer textures) plus there's more slowdown. Seeing as the game wasn't that amazing on the 360, it's a bit disappointing that the PS3 hasn't been improved in any way in the year since its release. I guess that's the real reason for the £30 price point.

A "show" pirate - from Pirates of Penzance? Broadway version or the original?

A lovely show pirate of an all-singing, all-dancing crew! Wonderful, and just what the game need: showtunes and bollywoodesque set pieces.

Sounds like the only redeeming feature of an otherwise rather boring game that was uninteresting on the 360, broken on the PC and simply old hat, bygones on the PS3.

I didn't think much of the 360 game, was fun at first but about 6 levels in and tedium sets in. Very basic linear level design, and the combat isn't all that interesting. Online it's pretty dull as well, the levels look great but it's just not that much fun to play for long periods.

Well I haven't played it yet but considering the negative comments came from a PS3-only magazine review I'm inclined to believe them. They actually gave the game 68% and said that they'd give the Xbox 360 version a low-80s figure so that was refreshingly honest for a dedicated magazine.

Lost Planet (on 360) was very disappointing... :(

    it should have remained lost...

    /no, that wasn't even funny :(

Lost Planet is a fun game (despite being linear and all that), and one of the best 360 titles one year ago. It's a shame PS3 isn't getting a proper port, but I guess PS3 users are becoming accustomed to choppy frame-rates and lowres textures. On the bright side, most will never notice, as they were blind enough to buy a PS3 in the first place (lol).

despite the slighly clunky controls, i quite liked this multiplayer demo. shame the full game sounds like its rubbish, but i wouldnt mind paying a few quid for the multiplayer only portion..

Well the PS3 multiplayer demo reminded me exactly of the awful 360 one I played a year or so back only with more jaggies, softer textures and no screen tearing. May pick the full game up for the single player game as it's only £25 - effectively a budget game - but I certainly have no interest in playing this rather dull plodding multiplayer game, that's for sure.
