US 60GB PS3 nearly extinct

Sony has none left.

Sony America has confirmed it has no 60GB PS3 units left in stock, so what you see on retail shelves is all that's left. For ever.

Its popularity was prompted by its new USD 499 price tag, announced alongside the new 80GB model in July. Sony later revealed it would be discontinuing the smaller model across the region, clearing the way for its new SKU.

Now, once all of the 60GB models are sold in the US, your only option will be the 80GB unit at USD 599. Better hurry down to Wal-Mart.

Us Europeans were left out of the price cut party, but did receive added value in the form of an extra Sixaxis pad and two Sony-published titles.

And that deal is safe, Sony told GamesIndustry.biz earlier this month, insisting it has "absolutely no time limit on that offer".
