As a Ps3 owner, these one is a must buy... can't wait.
So many great games... Ratchet, Uncharted, Time Crisis 5, Folklore, Haze, UT3, Orange Box, Warhawk etc... my wallet is on a serious diet. :P

Not sure if the PS3 version will get the same score if they do review it separately like they should.

I don't see anybody saying UT's a "bad" game because of its score....it just seems to have been released at the wrong time.

My ageing PC means that in order to play UT3, I have to make it look worse than UT2004 in to get it to run at barely half the framerate (if I'm lucky). Need new PC.

Billy, if you look at the orange box, Team Fortress 2 has been far longer in development than any of the single player parts of the bundle.

Also, mutliplayer games tend to provide far more playtime than single player games.

QUOTE: "The reason why I want to start with that is that no matter what ideas you throw into a game, if the feedback loop of player to controller, to screen and back again isn't satisfactory, then it's not going to be any fun to play"

Shame EG didn't think that way when reviewing Bioshock (esp PC version which should have been tested even if not), and apply the same criteria. How EG can give that bugged out, flawed snooze fest a ten and still be taken seriously I just don't know.

This game may be an 8, I'd probably agree but you seriously need to keep some consistency here, EG scoring is completely erratic and of no use when comparing scores against other games.

"What's EG policy on proofreading before publishing?
Just curious."

My sentiments too...

The review was rather high on opinion and low on detail. I guess we all know what we're getting with UT though.

For me, game of the year in a year of very good games. Feels almost as good as UT99...

The lack of comments on this review is a clear indication of how fucking pathetic these threads have become: were it the PS3 review you could add a 0 to the number of posts.

Game looks great BTW!

@beep "My ageing PC means that in order to play UT3, I have to make it look worse than UT2004 in to get it to run at barely half the framerate (if I'm lucky). Need new PC. "

imo wrong conclusion; you just need to load UT2004.

For all the features of UT games I always just end up getting my fix in insta-gib morpheous set to the hardest level on 'last man standing'

Question on the review. You say fanbase content wont compare because these boys are just showing off, if it were the other way round would you have said these boys obviously arent trying because they know how much fanbase content will be made? Could they ever win in a comment like that? Maybe its not just an advert, maybe they really enjoyed making it that way...

For me its just a bunny-rabbit twitch fest and i can load my old version if i feel that need.

I really didn't understand that as a negative comment at all, quite on the contrary.

Good review, best one I've read on EG for bloody ages. I wasn't at all surprised when I scrolled up to check the byline.

@ frankly: yer I find it quite ugly too, but comparing to Crysis... the LOD system in Crysis is amazingly wibbly - the rocks seem to have a life of their own as you walk near them even on the higher settings (looks mighty fine in static screenies tho).
I wish I'd tried 2k4 now, but 2k3 put me off so much I didn't want to disappoint myself any more :(

Speaking as someone who really enjoyed UT2004... Don't waste your money on this utterly broken shite. Forcing you to use gamespy to play multiplayer? Fuck that.
