Uncharted gets firm US date

Europe still this Christmas.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune will be released on 20th November in the US and is still down for release this Christmas in Europe.

That's according to game director Amy Hennig, addressing the world (well, Ellie) earlier today in Croatia, and confirms the date carried by US retailers.

Uncharted, which is developed by the Jak & Daxter scribes at Naughty Dog, puts players on the path of the fabled treasure of El Dorado, and is seen as one of Sony's key PS3 exclusives in the run-up to Christmas.

Hennig also told journalists that the game is "about a week" away from going beta internally, which bodes well for its prospect of getting out the door in two months' time.

You'll be reading a lot more about it very soon, and in the meantime you can catch all the latest screenshots and movies over on our Uncharted: Drake's Fortune gamepage.

Good stuff, could be advertised really well as well, it looks beautiful. I'll probably wat for the EU version, but you could always import if you don't like to wait.

Could be a pretty good game when considering ND's previous games, but character and game design looks a bit generic IMO. I would rather have a new J&D game with focus on platforming again ;)

Yeah, can't wait for this one!

Bloke Raider - seems to be a title worth waiting for

I'm dubious about this one. I shall express my fears in the form of an equation:
    TOMB RAIDER = INDIANA JONES
    therefore
    UNCHARTED = THE MUMMY RETURNS
    Fills me with dread...

This game looks amazing to play and amazing visually. I hope the devs iron out that ugly v-sync tearing before the game's release though.

    ^ I wouldn't hold your breath.

Unless you like passing out, in which case booooyeaaaaaaaaahhh!

It's by a highly respected developer, and is beautiful to look at. A game doesn't have to do anything new to be great. Gears didn't, Bioshock doesn't.
  • zoidberg #12 4 years ago

played it at Leipzig and...well... wasn't really that great.

"This game has nice animation, but beyond that, what does it actually do that other games (I.E. Tomb Raider and every Indy action game released) dont?"

Yeah, just like any other 'next gen' title on 360 or PS3... But apparently there are idiots that buy a 360 or PS3 and their games. Quite a few frequent this site too...

    does that include you, Les?

jeez, always calling people idiots...like you're a Churchill descendant or something

"Is the fact that it's a PS3 exclusive making you want it more than if it wasn't?"

No, it's the fact that it's by Naughty Dog.

"Is the fact that it's a PS3 exclusive making you want it more than if it wasn't?"

Nobody claimed that... but maybe a game that's a new franchice and not another FPS, racing game or sloppy PS2-to-Wii port with tacked on Wiimote controls, make the game look promising to some.

    "does that include you, Les?

    jeez, always calling people idiots..."

Not my fault that the idiot ratio is sky high around here.

And yeah, got a PS3 myself but not for 'next gen' games. And I'm not making fun of one console for faults that are equally applicable to another. That definitely makes me less of an idiot in that respect. But I guess I'm idiotic in some sense, trying to reason with console fundamentalists...

Can safely say it's not just that the game is a PS3-exclusive that makes it desirable as I don't have a PS3. Love Naughty Dog though, them and Insomniac are two of my favourite developers (and both Sony exclusive :()
