UK charts: suburb week for Sims 3

Prototype unlucky, Staff of Kings in trouble.

The Sims 3 holds on to the UK All-Formats top spot for a second week, fending off shape-shifting newcomer Prototype at two.

Grand Slam Tennis misses a top seed to enter at 13, while Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings will whip itself after a disappointing start at 32. Our Staff of Kings review was published this morning.

The only other retail release last week was Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball, which misses both All-Formats and Wii-specific top 40s.

Elsewhere in the All-Formats top 40, Call of Duty: World at War surges back into the top 10, and Wii balance board game Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum has a strong second week to climb to 20.

FUEL runs low and falls to 24, as does Star Ocean: The Last Hope, which spends a second week further adrift at 27.

Among those falling off the bottom this week are Halo Wars, Resident Evil 5 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. How Logan you go?

    Christ . . . CoD4 up there again.

Good to see Red Faction getting some love. Although Amazon still haven't delivered my copy. Wankers.

Any retailer selling IJ & the Staff of Kings for £39.99 should be shot.

I picked it up for £25 and would not be happy paying any more than that for it.

That top 10 is filled with actual games (well, apart from the eternal Wii Fit off course, and the EA one, but hey at least it has some decent stuff there.)
  • Darren #7 3 years ago

With the exception of the two Wii titles, which are of no interest to me, that's a very good Top Ten actually.

    anyone played Wolverine yet?

Got a copy in my desk here at work but never bothered unwrapping it - Am I missing something?
  • Doctor_What #12 3 years ago

I hear it falls into the 'pretty good for a film game' category. Solid enough mechanics, nothing that's going to leave you amazed, but not too bad either.

I quite fancy FUEL dispite the reviews! That 'Burn my shadow' trailer is very effective!

The £44.99 price point in both Game and Gamestation however isn't!

Nevermind, Redfaction is keeping me more than entertained for the time being!

EA claim the game will probably be down about $9 million in sales thanks to piracy.

I liked it. Liked it a lot actaully, but I'm a fan of Raven's work. Not as good as "Legends", less RPG, more "cinematic", but it's a very solid experience.

Great to see how well infamous seems to be doing its been nearly a month now and it's still on the top ten not bad for an exclusive. Love the game by the way its great loved the ending on good karma still need to start it again on evil and see how the story changes.

So I guess people like being manipulative and omnipotent in a PC format, that or they like playing normal life from a third person pespective because they have no social skills.

Prototype surprised me, it doesnt seem like a big hitter more like a minor distraction.

    And you beleive them?
  • login_name #20 3 years ago

fjharps, infamous flopped in the us though, and thats the market that really matters. Thats why Im looking forward to seeing how prototype does there.

    All markets matter.

Also, why do you care how well a game does in a foreign territory? Do you work for Radical Entertainment or Activision? Surely all that matters is how much you enjoyed playing the game.

Sales figures and charts only show how popular something is, not how good it is.

Think about it. Sales = sequel

Not necessarily. More likely, sure, but it's not a guarantee. Also, poor performers can generate sequels.

This should be common sense of why people are interested in sales figures.

Of course, silly me, it has absolutely nothing to do with rubbing fanboys noses in it. Not at all...

And honestly, all markets matter to an extent, but let's be honest, america is THE biggest games market right now that everyone is focused on.

That's a common assumption. The European games market is equally as big, if not bigger, than the US.

    It's £29.99 on play.com.
  • fjharps #24 3 years ago

Well I don't think it was a big flop in the US either and I do think that the number of sales do have significance towards sequels but I also think that developers have their own estimates of sales in mind also and infamous was never going to be a ps3 seller. I would love to see a sequel though as the ending is open ended and i loved the game.
Is prototype any good? i'm doubtin between that one or ghostbusters.
  • Nephirion #25 3 years ago

I think protoype sucks, also the strange decision to delay Red Faction Guerilla on PC till August wtf ...
