UK charts: Smash Bros. is smash hit
Muscles way to No. 1. Full top 40 inside.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl has headbutted its way to the top of the UK all formats chart this week, thumping previous leader LEGO Indiana Jones down to three.
The much anticipated game is the third-largest UK Wii launch behind Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii.
Below it, lots of new entries considerably shook-up the list: Battlefield: Bad Company was in second place, Big Beach Sports posed at five and Beijing Olympics crossed the line at nine.
Wii Fit jumped enormously from 27 to four thanks to some stock turning up, Metal Gear Solid 4 slid from two to six, and Mario Kart Wii boosted from 11 to seven.
Top Spin 3 managed to better its seeding from 12 to eight this week, and Grand Theft Auto IV rounded out the star performers at 10.
Just outside the top flight were new entries Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and The Bourne Conspiracy at 14 and 15, respectively. Interestingly, Guitar Hero III trailed the fresh series instalment at 16.
Even further down at 31 was Kane's Wrath, which re-enters thanks to the Xbox 360 release, and Kung Fu Panda that just makes the list and debuts at 40.
Other big movers were Alone in the Dark falling down a dark hole from three to 17, GRID braking hard from eight to 18, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII stumbling from 10 to 23, and Civilization Revolution regressing from 13 to 24.
This week waves goodbye to Ninja Gaiden II and UEFA Euro 2008.

I bought it 2 days before I bought Brawl and it occured to me that nobody was going to buy it due to the stupid time it was released and the fact that it wasn't hyped enough; just like when it was on the PS2. It's a real shame and it should be experienced.

By comparison, there's only 2 Sony exclusives - (6th and 23rd). Microsoft sort of has one exclusive; Football Manager (for Xbox 360 and PC) in 33rd. Then again, I guess all of the multiformat titles sell better on the Xbox than on the PS3, in the UK at least. Shame we can't get charts for Europe combined, that would be interesting - as would seeing the numbers sold for each platform, or a percentage or whatever, for the multiplatform titles.

But it won't. Their loss.

Personally, I would have rather it stay in the top 5/3 for longer. I have no idea why, but I am somehow saddened by the slight dive it's taken.

And people (here) will still insist that Wii owners don't buy games.
