UK charts: Wii Fit in No. 1 again shocker
F.E.A.R. 2 fails to scare off Nintendo.
Wii Fit has held firm atop the UK all-formats chart this week, despite F.E.A.R. 2 putting the frighteners on and entering at two.
The Warner Bros. shooter did secure the top spots in the Xbox 360 and PS3 charts, incidentally, but can't budge Football Manager 2009 from the top of the PC list.
F.E.A.R. 2 sells much faster than the original, thanks to a multiformat launch. Half of the sales are for the Xbox 360 SKU, while the PS3 picks up 31 per cent and the PC claims 19 per cent.
Further down, there are new entries for Ben 10: Alien Force at 13 and The House of the Dead: Overkill at 15. The latter manages third in the Wii-specific chart, beaten by best-sellers Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii.
Elsewhere seven of the top 10 games are for Nintendo formats, and half are published by the platform holder.
This week the chart waves goodbye to Resistance 2, Fallout 3 and Gears of War 2.

Similarly, Wii Play should never have been included in the charts either as people were only buying it for the Wiimote not the game itself (which was dire anyway... I should know as I have it!).

NFS, LOTR, blah
I agree on the Wii Fit thing. You could include Windows as well if we're incuding apps.

The fact that it's selling more when it costs twice as much is damn impressive, and people I know who've bought it have it because they think it's fun, not because they're trying to get fit with it.

I have hope that StreetFighter 4 will knock WiiFit off top spot this week, but I will be interested to see how Killzone 2 fares compared to PS3 F.E.A.R. 2.

It is not the job of a sales chart to decide WHY someone bought something, only to list what they bought and in what numbers. Saying people didn't buy Wiis for Wii Play is an assumption, not a known fact (not saying its not true, just that we don't know either way AND that it doesn't matter).
I've played Wii Fit very briefly. Seems like a game to me.

An amusement or pastime
A competitive activity involving skill, chance, or endurance on the part of two or more persons who play according to a set of rules, usually for their own amusement or for that of spectators.
The whole "not a real game" discussion is just weird anyway. Its not that fixed a term. People probably said it about video games when they were first invented.

That's about as stupid as saying Dance Dance Revolution and Time Crisis aren't games. Jusr sounds like sour grapes to me mate. :/

Can you play Wii Fit with other people and have a laugh like Dance Dance Revolution or Time Crisis... can you play it for hours and hours on end and get addicted to it... no, not really... therefore it is not really a proper game per se (as I define the word).

I'm sure it will when the sales of both versions are combined...not so sure about the "individual format" charts. I mean Fear 2 on the 360 only made number 7 on that this week.

Get over it, FFS
@CountFapula-I think it needs more cutesy platformers
@dream-that's like saying the 360/PS3 should have a special chart for games that, relatively speaking, no-one gives a fuck about
Comment below viewing threshold Show
The whole discussion is useless if we don't know the numbers.

I say it's fitness software with a free piece of hardware thrown in.

Fuck sake, can't we get you a forum all to yourself so we don't have to put up with such ludicrous comments. Or better yet, a box, and bury you in it.

Nintendo are just hammering all opposition! Hopefully HOTD can stay near the top for a while.
Oh and Wii Fit = game

Not that I totally agree with that definition, as when it comes to video games the computer can take the place of other people.
From Nintendo's OWN website:
Step onto the Wii Balance Board and into a fun way to get fit.
* Control on-screen action with your movements on the balance board as you work your way through a variety of challenges aimed at getting you off the couch and into the action. Check your Body Mass Index (BMI), see your Wii Fit Age and keep tabs on your daily progress towards a more fit for you.
* Get fit with more than 40 activities and exercises, including strength training, aerobics, yoga and balance games. Whether you're doing a yoga pose or snowboarding down a slalom course, there's an activity for everyone.
* Challenge your family and friends to get in shape! Create your own personal profile and set goals, test your balance, track your progress with daily workouts and unlock new exercises and activities."
It is not marketed as a game - it is not for amusement of the user or for spectators. It is being marketed as a fun way to get fit. If you have watched any late night television, the adverts are full of fitness systems that are (supposedly) fun to use. Are these games? I think not. This is CLEARLY being marketed as a fitness device, not as a game. So all this bollocks about why this is a game is way off the mark. Something can be fun (although I don't see how Wii Fit iis, I'll concede some do), and not be a game.

Anyhow.. Its nothing more than a personal thought so pls whoever sees it so different pls do not start bitching. SPECIALLY if you are from those that were lazy to go to a gym before wii fit

I'd compare this to Play TV for PS3....is this a game? It's something fun that you do with the console... Its hardware and comes with a disc??
Personally I don't see how it can be number 1 in charts when most retailers are out of stock??
