UK charts: EA trio still riding high News

PC PlayStation 2 PSP DS Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 Wii
News by Robert Purchese

EA games Mercenaries 2, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 and Spore have held on at one, two and three respectively this week in the UK all-formats chart.

TNA iMPACT debuted at nine but the rest of the top ten remained largely unchanged.

Mario & Sonic surged up to four, knocking Wii Fit to five, ahead of non-mover Mario Kart Wii at six. Carnival: Funfair Games went round and round and round at seven, chased by Guitar Hero: On Tour, which pounded up from 18 to eight. Wii Play rounded out the chart at 10.

Further down and Rock Band - finally released on PS3, PS2 and Wii last week - reappeared at 30. Three places behind Guitar Hero III, if you fancy a bit of drama.

The biggest - notable - movers were Super Smash Bros. Brawl up from 22 to 13, Too Human down from 16 to 38, and Viva Piñata down from 23 to 40.

This week the top 40 waves goodbye to Infinite Undiscovery, Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky.

Wow, VP is still in the top 40! Maybe there is hope for quality games in the top 40 after all.

I didn't even know TNA iMPACT was out... is it actually any good? The gameplay videos looked excellent but then looks can be deceptive...

Just checked Game Rankings and the game is averaging 65% so it doesn't look like it's all that great after all. Shame, it looked awesome in those videos...

I'm glad we mostly stuck to our word and didn't buy the overpriced, late release of Rock Band. Well done chaps!

Too Human has been dropped to £24.99 in Gamestation!

Shame really, I genuinely think it's not even close to as bad as some people claim it is.

@Quint2020 - Yeah but it's reputedly not that great either which is what matters to people who have to fork out £40 on what they hope will be a quality game. At £25 Too Human is obviously better value and I may well pick it up at that price myself (or cheaper!) at some point.

I love Too Human, but I must be the the antithesis of the "mass market consumer".
