UFC is undisputed US champ for May
360 version tops NPD list, PS3 in fourth.
THQ's UFC 2009: Undisputed dominated US software sales in May as the games market on the whole slumped 23 per cent year on year.
Undisputed on Xbox 360 was the best-selling game, shifting nearly 680,000 copies, while the PS3 version was fourth with around 335,000.
Sony's PS3-exclusive inFamous managed just under 176,000, putting it fifth, but the game only came out in the US on 26th May.
Elsewhere, Nintendo continued to enjoy strong sales with Wii Fit at two, Pokemon Platinum, Mario Kart Wii and Punch-Out!! at six, seven and eight, and Wii Play rounding out the top ten.
Meanwhile, EA's strategy of releasing a Western-angled fitness game in EA Sports Active seems to have paid off to some extent, with around 345,000 sales putting it at third - just behind Wii Fit.
On the hardware front, DS dominated with nearly 635,000 sales, followed predictably enough by Wii with nearly 290,000, while Xbox 360 held firm on 175,000 and the three PlayStation consoles were responsible for around 350,000 units sold in total.
The DS was down considerably on April, but then April saw the launch of the Nintendo DSi. NPD doesn't break out the individual unit sales.
Analysts pointed out that the 23 per cent annual decline wasn't exactly brilliant news, but made a few encouraging noises about the June line-up. See below for the breakdown of figures and charts.
