Uncharted 2 getting new skins in Japan
Killzone! Resistance! InFamous!
Update: Naughty Dog has Tweeted (thanks, Zero_) that this information may not be right at all. There's no word on what is, however - only a warning:
"What a morning! We've read some inaccurate news regarding our DLC making the rounds. More - and accurate - info coming soon, stay tuned!
Original story: Sony Japan has revealed plans for three bouts of Uncharted 2 DLC, starting with skins based on characters from Killzone 2, Resistance 2 and InFamous.
The first lot is free and will arrive on 28th January, alongside a demo of the game. There are a few screenshots of the skins in our Uncharted 2 gallery.
The next batch is dated for 25th February and will contain converted maps and skins from Uncharted 1.
The third and final instalment is penned for 15th April. In this will be a co-operative multiplayer mode plus four new maps and five new skins.
So far this added content has been confirmed only for Japan, where it will help promote the release of an Uncharted 2 Twin Pack - containing UC1 and UC2 - on 18th February.
We're grilling Sony about plans outside of Japan.

Anyway... Just awful... Really hope those skins won't get to the west... I don't want to play with characters who don't belong in the game and destroy every atmosphere (sure, the sceleton and stuff doesn't fit either, but still isn't as horrible as those characters)...

It's only been 3 months mate! Really looking forward to new maps, and personally I like the skins. Will there be a good Cole and a bad Cole? Always wanted an inFamous dust up

I think that's why they're doing it, to raise awareness of those franchises, in a region where it's practically non-existant.

It has made me think though, publishers really can't win the whole DLC argument. Too late and the sales suffer as many gamers have moved on by then, but release too early and you run the risk of people calling foul and accusations of content being cut specifically to create a DLC opportunity. Only way out to create quality DLC that gamers actually want but it seems that these are very few and far between among the lacklustre additional levels, multiplayer map packs, character skins and the occasional chapter cut. A new co-op mode for Uncharted 2 would be an example of something players want, but I fear it's coming out just a little too late to make quite the impact that it should.

ND already said shortly after launch that creating more co-op contnent would take them a lot of time and they weren't sure if they would do it. Now that it's confirmed, I'm sure it will be appreciated by the fans and people will return.
Snake and Ocelot skins would be awesome. Kratos would be cool as well but who would be the villain?

While I can certainly see the argument that these characters would be out of place in the world of Uncharted 2, it's only the competitive multiplayer, it's not doing any real harm immersion-wise, if they were usable in the co-op missions then you may have a point but in the regular multiplayer? Who cares really as long as you know who's side everyone is on?
