Ubisoft's Beowulf detailed

Barking up several platforms.

As you'll know if you've read our handsome preview, Ubisoft has announced details of the Beowulf game it spoke about at UbiDays in May. It's due out on Xbox 360, PS3, PC and PSP this November to coincide with the release of the film, which is being directed by Robert Zemeckis and stars Ray Winstone.

In the game, developed by Ubi's Tiwak studio, players take on the role of Beowulf through his life - journeying to Denmark, claiming the throne, and generally expanding on all the things the ancient poem was banging on about. For example, the original author forgot to include crate puzzles, which presumably they'll now be able to sort out. Things you'll actually be able to do include commanding an army of thanes and accumulating carnal abilities. Sounds raunchy.

Director Zemeckis has been "thoroughly impressed" with what Ubisoft's shown them. He said the people working on the film "are confident that gamers will find it to be an immersive and entertaining experience that goes far beyond the traditional movie-licensed game". Another King Kong then? November should reveal all.
