Ubisoft talks Blazing Angels PS3

It's got exclusive stuff.

Ubisoft has dropped a whole payload of information for Blazing Angels: Secret Missions this morning, including new details of exclusive PS3 features.

PC and Xbox 360 owners will also get their slice of unique inclusions, according to a spokesperson from Ubisoft, although these are yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, those of you with Sony's prize fighter will be able to relish in full motion-sensing Sixaxis support. You'll even get your very own multiplayer map where you'll race your friends around all sorts ominous obstacles like cliffs, and probably noisy tractors or cows.

Blazing Angels: Secret Missions is the follow-up to last year's Squadrons of WWII. It's an aerial combat affair where you'll fly under the stars-and-stripes on a secret mission to disrupt Hitler's Third Reich.

This time around you'll get to pilot prototype aircraft designs, which we hope actually work, and fire experimental weapons that probably never made it into production for good reasons. There'll be a swathe of exotic locations to take in, too, like Cairo, Moscow, and the Himalayas.

That's all on top of the expected updates, like better graphics, more multiplayer dogfights: bigger and better.

Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII received a mixed bag of reviews. To summarise what Kristan said while making it sound a bit like I think it, the 360 version felt a little like an afterthought, and the overall package lacked a lot of polish. However, this new version has been designed from the ground-up for next-gen (that old chestnut again), so our fingers are crossed.

Pop into our Blazing Angels: Secret Missions gamepage to find out more, or loop-the-loop your way to our Sqadrons of WWII review for some background reading.

Blazing Angels: Secret Missions is due for release on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in late August.

I hope Sony didn't pay for that ;) That would not be ethical.

Great! Loved the first game on 360, looking forward to this one even more!

However, from what I've played of the PS3 version, that was yet another shonky port that I'm glad I don't have to put up with!

    Shouldn't this read

    "Ubisoft threaten Blazing Angels PS3"

It's not like the game was very good. Exclusive content isn't really going to save it. Heck you end up with MORE medicore levels?!?! Where is the selling point in that?

ubi turning a new leaf? heh.

but they seriously need to improve their ps3 support
  • Whizzo #7 5 years ago

The could improve their PS3 support by not porting this putrid game.

Not to mention a waste of money, pouring money into Moneyhatting Blazing angels while funding Warhawk, might as well burn that money in a furnace.

Or they could bribe me into getting a PS3 right now.

    Have you played it?

Played the 360 demo and it was so shit I came close to demanding compensation for the time I played it.

    It's a horrible game.

Despite the disappointment of it not being about stoned people with wings, I quite enjoyed Blazing Angels on the 360.

Main faults: Giant text across the top of the screen that can't be turned off, ridiculous dialogue and voice acting, practically infinite health, and a mission that consisted of flying aimlessly through a sandstorm.

Fix those and you've got a winner, Ubi. Well, a 7/10 anyway. Possibly.

The first one had some of the worst voice-acting I've ever heard, and I've played Codename Eagle.

BA wasn't a bad arcade flyer, but it had numerous annoyances that diluted the fun.

Other exclusive PS3 features they didn't mention include:

    * Framerate of 20fps which dynamically drops to 5fps when the action gets busy

    * Low resolution textures to help it chug along that bit faster

    * Absence of any of those unnecessary lighting effects (you're not too bothered how your games look, are you?)

    * Horrendous load times

    * Juddery pre-rendered cut scenes

    * lack of customisable button mappings

All of the above, coming to your PS3 courtesy of Ubisoft from here to the end of time!

Wow, I bet PS3 owners are sooper excited about the prospect of playing this shoddy port! I played this 86 yrs ago on my 360, it was shite then, and I'm pretty sure that description still stands.

Haha, not you as well!? Even EG fell in to the same trap as you!

That mission is stupidly easy, had you LISTENED TO WHAT YOU HAD TO DO!

Simply fly towards the direction from which the German radio transmissions are coming from.

I've never had a problem with the sandstorm level, not once.

@Whizzo & captainrentboy: What you fail to seem to realise, is that you've played the 360 original, whereas this is a built from the ground up sequel, ergo not the same bloody game which is going to the PS3.
