Ubi's new Wii party game

Ubisoft has announced that an adaptation of popular board game Cranium will be coming to Wii in December, complete with its own fancy spectacles.

The idea is to work your way around the board until you reach the end and win, passing through four different sections relating to different skills as you go: one based on language, one on artistic panache, one on trivial knowledge, and one on performance skills. It's created so that everyone playing should find strength in at least one area.

Each section is divided into various challenges, such as sketching clues, answering questions, solving anagrams or performing charades. Both Ubisoft and the creators of Cranium are confident and excited about the potential of recreating it on Wii.

Here special glasses will let you read clues on the screen that no one else can see, before you're asked to do things like paint the solar system on a wall or hammer out Auld Lang Syne' on a xylophone - all promising to be hilarious fun using the Wiimote.

Cranium Kabookii will be available in Canada, France, Spain, the UK and US, where localised teams will create specific questions for their audience.

    The glasses idea sounds really cool actually! Now they should figure out a way to do that with 4 player split screen shooter games, I can't remember the amount of times I was playing Perfect Dark with the Farsight and people would know I was after them

    ERm, so why are you in a wii thread? If i was in a 360 thread and said (wrngly) that the 360 had no decent games - you'd pipe up and state bioshock, oblivion and halo.

    Should my reply then be "im sick of reading about bloody bioshock, oblivion and halo"?

    Metroid Prime 3 = 1st person adventure
    Super Paper Mario = rpg
    Mario Galaxy = platformer
    smash bros = beat em up
    batillion wars = strategy


    Now lets look at your "varied" list:

    Halo 3 = shooter
    Mass Effect = shooter
    Assassin's Creed = shooter
    Bioshock = rpg shooter

    etc etc

    But of course.. all the wii games are sequels.. so they MUST be the same and not different AT ALL..

    smelly: -6 respect points for saying Assassin's Creed is a shooter.

    I love the Wii but sorry the 360 has the most varied back catalogue for next-gen thus far. The Wii doesn't have a single RPG that I can think of, and the PS3 has about 30 games.

    I'm not suprised really. I was expecting the "gustapwii" (aka smelly) to rear his head whenever anyone says anything bad about the wii in a comments area (where he proceeds to attack the 360, even when it isn't mentioned).

    @Owen-B : So you're telling me that no-one would mind if i went into every comment thread regarding say.. the 360.. and tell everyone that it's shite and only has fps games on it?

    Funny how they're the same ones that say "all mario games are the same" or "nintendo is unoriginal" or "metroid is a generic fps" isnt it?

    Also funny that ones are still shooters and still pretty much prove my point. Lets replace "assassins creed" (Which i admit i've not played) with "gears of war" (which i have) .. Point still stands.

    Sorry, but...

    Mass Effect = Shooter

    is also pretty dumb. There's shooting in it, but it's ostensibly an RPG adventure.

    While smelly didn't get it right, it doesn't change the fact that it's not him that is the troll in this thread. In fact, it appears that most threads attract people that want to say that it's crap. It goes a bit like this:

    Wii thread - Wii sucks!
    360 thread - 360 sucks!
    PS3 thread - ... you get the point

    It's highly irritating and is starting to put me off the forum like few things have done before. You can't discuss a game without having 100 assholes telling you it's crap, from a crap company, on a crap platform.

    I have a Wii, and I like the Wii for what it is. But I'm not going to buy Metroid, paper mario nor mario galaxy since they don't appeal to me. There's my two cents in the 'wii comments & opinion section'.

    Not another fucking party game.. The glasses sound like a nice gimmick, but I cant see them working really really well - as i'd imagine different contrast/brightness ratios on a tv (which most people will have) will cause the words to be visible to people without glasses.

    Especially if it's a colour based thing - lcd screens will be especially screwed here.

    Wow, great idea! Cranium on the Wii, if they get it right it'll be barrels of fun. Clever idea with the glasses too--goodness knows us gamers love a gimmick.

    I like Wii Sports, Zelda, some gamecube RPG's I wanted to play, I might like trauma centre though I'm yet to buy it. I also think Wii Fit is a nice Idea.
    Admittedly, it gets less love from me than my PC gaming-wise, but still the Wii concept appeals. And you don't need to be a mario/metroid fan to appreciate it.
