I think they also need to apologise for the shoddy PS3 version

But hey, at least it includes the Red and Black pack

Too bad that there was a mistake. Nevertheless I welcome Ubi's effort to put things like this out for free.

Edit: PS3; Oh, that's why they are free.

8-10 weeks. LOL. Blood from a stone..

Is the PS3 version shoddy? Not in the reviews I've read it isn't?

Last time I pay for map packs then. Red Pack free on July 6th indeed. Bah to this nonsense, I say. Bah.

@jonsaan

When you compare it to the 360 version it is, which to be fair the reviews do mention. What they don't mention is how much of a mess the online lobby system is, especially the fact that only friends of the host can join private rooms making it a nightmare to organise clan matches

Oh dear. Although that does seem par for the course with Ubi's PS3 output.
Luckily I am playing so much Superstardust I don't need to worry for now:)

8 - 10 weeks - Cheeky twats - doesn't seem to take that long for the points to leave your account when you purchase something.

never bought a single thing (extras with MS - tempted with Crackdown but resisted) myself - and is my only positive (as yet) take of the PS3 which is effectivley forcing Microsoft to stop being money grabbing C**ts for a second, when the same content is released on PS3 without charge.

I'm actually pretty impressed by that. They could have just said nothing and kept the cash. Its not like they were legally bound to do this in any way and big companies tend to like money to much to give it back if they can help it.

Ubisoft may take one item of their choosing from the fruit basket.

MS don't decide what contant is free and what gets charged for. If you are referring to the charge for XBLive then fair enough (though I might suggest that XBLive is actually brilliant and worth the money), but if you are talking about the content at the centre of this article you can't really vent at MS for the potential costs involved.

@kangarootoo:

I thought MS did have a big say in what the charges are. Epic mentioned they wanted the Gears maps to be free, but MS would only agree to them being free after a certain period. I'm sure they said something along the lines of "It's their Marketplace, they can charge what they want"

Could be wrong though... it's early :)

Edit: May be different as MS was the publisher for Gears I suppose...

Interesting - the initial assigning of points to your Live account and thus the taking of your money is alost instantaneous. But when Microsoft have to refund points it takes a lot longer. They're probably making people wait because they're due to announce some figures to shreholders or somethig soon and they wanna keep hold of the points until then.

"Also, as a token of our appreciation for the Rainbow Six community, we are making the Red Pack free as of Friday July 6th as well."

What about all of us who HAVE bought the red pack?! What about our thanks?!

God I'm hating Ubi more n more every day!

You got to play it for a few months before the rest of us. Whats the problem? You should be happy (you certainly were at the time I assume)..everyone being able to get the Red Pack will mean your game gets more players to play against, prolonging it.

Did you moan when they started bundling games in with consoles? Or when you buy a bottle of coke one day and the next Tesco are doing buy one get one free?

Everything should stay at a fixed value because once I have bought something it should never devalue and mean that I could have got it cheaper if I had waited because that is wrong and it's awful that Ubi are doing this because nothing else in the world depreciates so optional map packs for games should be the same it is terrible I hate Ubisoft they are wrong did you know that Rainbow Six vegas is available for £18 now I paid £30 for it and I feel robbed it's as if they came in to my house and stole my mother's ashes off the mantlepiece.

Or some other equally as stupid opinion.

@ IamBatman, My head hurts after trying to decipher your post. Aside from that, I can't agree with your reasoning, things do get cheaper as time goes on.

"800 Microsoft points (around seven quid)"

/Buys 2100 MS points for £15, so 800 points = ~£5.70

Sorry, I thought putting "Or some other equally as stupid opinion" and likening a game getting cheaper to having my mother's ashes stolen would have made it clear I was joking. I'll edit a big smily face in there now just in case anyone else was confused.

Put "TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: JOKE ALERT" at the top of the post and "THIS IS NOT A DRILL" at the bottom. That should do it.
