Ubi announces Shaun White sequel News

Wii News by Oli Welsh

28 May, 2009

Ubisoft has announced that it will release Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage as a Wii exclusive this Christmas.

The sequel to last year's extreme sports hit will see players following the Olympic gold medallist around the world's top snowboarding competitions in France, Canada and Japan, as well as hitting a half-pipe in the middle of New York's Times Square.

World Stage will be compatible with the Balance Board, as was the Wii version of last year's game, Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip. Balance Board was one of the things which distinguished the decent Road Trip from its ropey sister game on PC, 360 and PS3 - and may be why Ubisoft's decided to go the single-format route this time.

Shaun White Snowboarding: World Stage is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal and will be on show at E3 next week, taking its bow at Ubisoft's press conference on the Monday evening. Stay tuned for more.

No one cares Eurogamer. Who here actually bought the first one?

Not surprisingly really since Road Trip apparently sold as many copies as the PS360 version combined.

@ bluem - the original still sold 3 million copies, so just because you obviously don't like it doesn't mean it's not news. Shall EG not bother reporting on, say, a Mirror's Edge sequel too?

Eurogamer usually peddle non-stories like any normal British tabloid. The story yesterday which was ripped from the sister gamesindustry.biz about games that are predicted to be unveiled at E3 by Nintendo is a typical example

I also consider this a non-story however that is my opinion and I am entitled to that. I did not indicate that my statement was fact in any shape or form

I sure there are many granddads and 8 year kids would be excited by the news of a sequel. So they can continue to fall down and break their neck while playing the sequel on the Wii balance board.

Not sure how well this will do this year. I would have thought the majority of casual consumers will go for 'Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games' if they want a bit of snowboarding action.

There's some screenshots up on gamersyde... makes me wonder, if this is Wii exclusive, why does it look so much less detailed than the previous cross platform one?

No?

"No one cares Eurogamer"

Sure seems like a statement of perceived fact to me.

Whatever the case though, you're wrong. I care very much, I'm still looking forward to trying out the first game, heard it was rather good on the Wii.
