Turtles in Time remake price dropped

Out next Weds for less than expected.

Ubisoft has cut the price of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled from 1200 Microsoft Points to 800.

The game's due out on 5th August as part of the Summer of Arcade marketing ruse, whose high prices have already convinced Microsoft to offer US gamers a 400-MSP rebate if they buy all five expensive titles.

Well, now Turtles is a bit less expensive, according to IGN. 800 Microsoft Points equates to £6.80 or €9.60.

Turtles in Time Re-Shelled is an update of the early-nineties 16-bit scrolling beat-'em-up, and if you're getting a sense of deja vu then it's probably because you're aware of the other TMNT game on Live - a port of the 1989 arcade release.

Look out for our review of Re-Shelled on Wednesday. PSN and WiiWare releases will reportedly follow the XBLA launch.

We need to buy this to convince publishers that the 800 point price point will make them richer in the long run.

Coolio. I'm pleased by this price drop. I enjoyed pleaying the original on my SNES and was deciding whether to buy it or not, since 1200MS points felt like a liberty. 800MS points feels more like it. I'm sold.

MS was offering the yanks 800 back if they bought all 5 titles. It was only yesterday EG reported on it, seems like the ol' memory is going :)

Seems like there's some real thinking about pricing going on the industry at the moment. I hope they decide cheap is best :D

    Really great to see!

This is the second game in the last few weeks where the publisher and Microsoft have listened to the criticism of the higher price. Wasn't sure if I was gonna get this, now it's a definite purchase!

    I'll play the demo.

I enjoyed it when I was caught up in the hype of Turtles in the early 90s, and I loved the arcade game then (along with the similar Simpsons one).

Might just seem boring now, but at 800 points thats not a silly price and I might get it. Loving Spolsion Man even though I nearly didn't buy it because I thought it was going to be 1200 points...

I've been really looking forward to this and at 800mp I'd definately going to get it. I just hope at the lower price point I can get some friends to buy it as well for some multiplayer action.

sold. i wasn't quite convinced this was worth 1200 points, but for 800 it's a day 1 purchase.

This isn't worth 1200pts, it doesn't look as good as the SNES version (bland 3D models moving about aren't as good a the vibrant handdrawn animated graphics which stay true to the cartoon) and the gameplay hasn't been improved over the SNES version. I might pick up TNMT arcade which is only 400pts.

Instant tryout, 1200 too much but at 800 if at least decent I'll buy it.
  • Bits #15 3 years ago

Brilliant, I was very iffy about getting it at 1200 but at 800 I will definetly be grabbing it day one.

It has now moved from "no way" to "tempting" territory for me.

I haven't bought any xbox 360 arcade games yet but this & splosion man seem like a great buy so I'll been getting them.

People seem to be forgetting that 800 points is (according to EG) about £6.80 in real money. While I'm not 12 and saving up pocket money or anything like that I still find that price quite high for a lot of what you get on Arcade. Really I've only bought a handful of standout titles, namely Worms1+2, Braid and Geometry Wars 1+2, most of the rest just do not seem like that great value to me.

I think a fiver for most of these games, especially considering they're no longer involving distribution costs of DVD's anymore, is more reasonable, even as little as say £4 for the more premium titles, 8 quid maybe for things like Battlefield 1943. Nice at least to see prices coming down when people complain enough tho.

Will be interesting to see the prices they charge for full (older) 360 games like Bioshock against what you can get them for 2nd hand online...
