Try Two Worlds on PC

Another demo unearthed.

A PC taster for Two Worlds is now available to download, weighing in at a healthy 866MB.

It will let you test out the sprawling role-playing adventure from Polish developer Reality Pump, exploring the Northern Antaloor region and completing various quests. You'll even be able to tackle parts of the main storyline, but the demo will come to an end when you reach a certain point in it.

Two Worlds has lived in the shadow of rival Oblivion since it was announced to press and public last year, displaying many similar characteristics. But Reality Pump has included various changes under the hood to set it apart, like an MMO-style multiplayer mode to prolong our enjoyment.

We had a chance to get our hands on it in June and found it surprisingly entertaining and original, worthy of a closer look nearer launch. Have a gander at our first impressions of Two Worlds for more information.

Two World is due for release on 360 and PC in the UK on 7th September.

I tried the demo over the weekend and it's not too bad, a bit rough and unpolished compared with Oblivion, and the controls are a little clunky but otherwise it looks like it might be a half-decent game.

By the way, has anyone seen any footage of the 360 version or knows if there's a demo on the way prior to its release? The controls are a bit cumbersome on the PC so I'm interested in seeing how it works on the 360 particularly as Oblivion worked so well with a controller.

Says on the 2 Worlds Website :

"Fantastic RPG will be in European shops on the 29th of August 2007"

I know, I'm in a complete state of confusion about if/when this game is going to be released and on what format etc.

Not a good thing really given the competition it's facing for people's £40 over the next month or two ...

It's out stateside, yet there's been no reviews.

I always fear the worst when this happens.

Gameplay still have it down as this Friday but I had heard it had been delayed

"It's out stateside, yet there's been no reviews."

PC Gamer UK gave it 75% if I recall.

Whereas Tim Absath of Ctrl+Alt+Del stated, and I quote, "Heh, wow. This game sucks balls."

It might have some merit on the 360, where you can count the number of online fantasy-setting RPGs on the mangled, bloodied hand of a blind butcher but on the PC we've got an immensely long pedigree of this type of game.

It's apparently terrible. At least that's what most American's seem to think... so I don't know how much of a valid opinion that really is then...

The thing is, there's terrible in an irredeemably-awful kind of way, then there's the Gothic 3 brand of terrible, which is more like 'suffers from some really annoying bugs and a lack of polish, but has a small kernel of greatness for those willing to overlook its flaws'.

What I'm trying to say is, I'll let a lot of shit slide if a game lets me kill some kobolds and wear silly armour.

Well, that was truly dire - The only up side was how amusingly bad the voice acting was!

7th of September is UK release date - it's been on the "news" here already.

EDIT: just went to try the demo - why the fuck is it just on some US site that wants me to register or else wait five minutes? Nuts to that.

Indeed, I'll be taking any PC review with a pinch of salt - I expect/hope an entirely different rationale would be taken for a 360 review. As you say, there's been bugger all else on the 360 that's got some meat to it other than Oblivion and after the desperately disappointing Blue Dragon my 360 is still gathering dust ...

To those folks who are nay sayers regards Two Worlds and gothic 3 I say verily unto you....WRONG.

Both games are excellent, deep and playable, as long as you like vast sprawling RPGs ( often with very funny and cringeworthy acting, which just adds to the experience for me )

If you liked the old Might & Magic games ( 6 thru 9 ) and Oblivion then both Gothic 3 and Two Worlds are for you, and in my opinion, both offer better game experiences that Oblivion ( and I really liked Oblivion )
