Quite liked the first one. Bananas or tobacco, bananas or tobacco.

The screens for this look rather nice. On my watch list.

I am wet when I see any city building game that allows roads to curve and intersect nicely, not only 90 degrees. So was City Life and so does this. Awesome! I heart Haemimont!

I liked the first one, apart from the fact that many buildings just plain cost too much and took up too much room, not to mention the tedious 'levelling' of the ground underneath of any building site (a vagary of the heavily adapted Railroad Tycoon II engine which similarly made uneven ground a pain up the arse) which often took longer than raising the building itself.

Saying that, it perfectly captured a 'feel' for a Cold War-era former Spanish colony in the Caribbean - the writing, the music, everything perfectly evoked it. Thing is, a lot of this was down to Poptop being hardened geeks who'd given the same love and atmosphere to Railroad Tycoon II (and gave it that 'golden age of American railroads' tableau) so whether this new Eastern European can capture the shame subtlety, wit and charm remains to be seen. Given how well Depression Era Americana was captured by Illusion Softworks... quite possibly!

(blimey, that was awfully tangenty. I should have just said 'oooh tropico, me want')

I really liked the first one so I'll most likely get this.

But still I'm waiting for remake of the best building/managing game of all times: Transport Tycoon Deluxe!

Tropico 1 and 2 are bonafide classics, so this is officially on my radar. Although I'm not sure what I think about playing an intricate management game on my 360. Using the mouse just seems far more.. dictatorial.

Excellent, loved the first one. 2nd one was just not my cup of tea, but with the 3rd one rooting more in the original Tropicos gameplay and the gorgeous screens, I am already mighty excited.
I take a copy for the 360, please :)

I can actually see me playing this on the 360 if they can get the controls correct. It would be a nice change of pace type game for the 360.

@Lukree: There's a project called openTTD. It has been ongoing for a few years now. It's a PC only and allows multiplayer :D

Oh yes, Transport Tycoon. All versions godly. Every comment that I see that refers to Transport Tycoon has a default +1 from me. Instant reflex. Best game ever.

By the way why the hell is the news title "Tropico for XBox" when the real news is "announcing Tropico 3, for PC as well as XBox"???
