Trine, Bomberman head PSN refresher News

PlayStation 3 PSP News by Robert Purchese

17 September, 2009

The long-awaited arrival of platformer Trine headlines the Thursday PSN update this week, followed admirably by Bomberman Ultra and Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 - Commander's Challenge.

Trine, developed by Frozenbyte, won considerable plaudits on PC - and at a higher price point. On PSN, the game costs £16.99 (€19.99).

Bomberman Ultra, according to Hudson, "combines the best features" of the series to bring you "one of the most comprehensive Bomberman games in history". An elaborate re-issue, but thankfully old-school in design. Bomberman Ultra costs £7.99 (€9.99).

C&C Red Alert 3 - Commander's Challenge, on the other hand, adds 50 special scenarios for £7.99 (€9.99). Think of it as a new game.

There are also numerous special offers on the PS Store. These include price-cuts for PixelJunk Racers, High Velocity Bowling and echochrome Micro to £3.99 (€4.99). Plus, The Super Stardust HD Double Pack has been chopped to £2.39 (€2.99) and Disney's Action Game feat. Hercules now costs £3.19 (€3.99).

PES 2010 and NBA Live demos are backup should you fall short of cash.

In add-on land, the free Batman: Arkham Asylum Challenge Room maps are a no-brainer (providing you have the game), and the second Red Faction: Guerrilla add-on - with two new modes and eight new maps - sounds enticing.

£15.99 and no trophies?=no buy.

Why do us ps3 owners still get games without trophies? Achievements have been on every game on the 360 since the beginning.
It's a bit pricey as well for a game that is merely ok.

Trine is £15.99 on PS3 or £16.99 for PC on Steam. Take your pick or don't buy.

Maybe I missed the announcement earlier, but the new Ratchet and Clank video has me all sorts of excited. R&C going Open World (or open space)??? With space radio stations, adverts, dog fights, exploration, side quests? It's GTA V The Ballad of A Space Rat and His Snotty Bot Mate. And it lookes lovely - the promised Pixar quality wasn't really nailed with Tools of Destruction, but this looks beautiful.

All they need to do is sneak in multiplayer at the last minute, and it'll be man vs space ferret nose to nose with Nathan Drake for GOTY. Next few months are going to be a fine time to own a PS3 (despite the unavoidable EG 8/10 for both).

"combines the best features" my ass! They didn't manage to get the game out in europe before they announced the successor in the US. Now "Ultra" sounds a little less justifiable...

Bomberman Live: Battlefest will come to XBLA this year, 2010 for the PSN (US, of course, check the Hudson web page, the very word Europe doesn't exist there). Though it will probably be relabeld Bomberman Ultra: Battlefest for PS3 release.

Thanks for dropping us some bread crumbs, Hudson...
