Trials HD races past 300,000 sales

|\/|0t0r81k3s take XBLA by storm.

RedLynx has announced that Trials HD has passed 300,000 sales after barely a month on sale.

At 1200 Microsoft Points (£10.20 / 14.40), that's over three million quid. Hey good-lookin'!

"It's a remarkable and proud moment for us to have Trials HD as one of the highest-ranked games among Xbox Live Arcade users, and one of the best-selling Xbox Live Arcade games this year," said RedLynx boss Tero Virtala.

Trials HD, like RedLynx Trials 2: Second Edition before it, has had the Eurogamer office in a competitive frenzy. We think it's awesome, and hopefully you do too.

Its popular because its both casual and hardcore at the sametime.

Casual as in simple controls, suited to 5/10 mins play and easy to grasp.

Hardcore as in its difficult to master and get the hi-scores whores drooling.

... that and the fact its flippin' awesome.

    I concur.
They need to get that track pack out soon, I'm hoping for next week.
  • charming_fox #3 2 years ago

Ranked User-made maps system please! I bet there's some amazing maps out there.
  • OllyJ #4 2 years ago

If only you could share your tracks and the whole leaderboard thing was a bit better this would be the best game on XBLA as it stands it's just one of them.

It's brilliant, I love it but not being able to share and rate tracks? what is this? 2002? :D
  • Physically_Insane #5 2 years ago

    And well deserved.
  • cowell #6 2 years ago

Their success is richly deserved. Speedjack has it spot on in that its extremely accessible but there is enough depth there to keep everyone happy. Plus it has that whole balance between unbridled joy at completing a track and throwing your console out of the window in rage when you fail, that gives it that 'just one more go/ where did the last hour just go' vibe

Still loving this. Well done Redlynx, you deserve all the success you get :)
  • cyacomini #8 2 years ago

I wonder how much of that £3m Red Lynx will actually see - probably a LOT less than they should be getting!
  • Psychotext #9 2 years ago

    Well deserved. Fantastic game.

Just let us share tracks we've got from people on our friends list with other people on our friends list damnit. It'll pretty much instantly fix the custom track sharing problem.

Like the subtitle. Wonder if the dude who pioneered it is aware of his legacy.

  • lavalant #15 2 years ago

I wasn't even looking forward to it and had no intention of buying it, it's just after I played the trial version it was an immediate purchase for me.
  • adcworks #16 2 years ago

i can't stop playing this game to compete with my friends in getting fastest times. it's just so much fun getting the kudos :)
  • gabsta69 #17 2 years ago

its the one game where you know having spent 1 hour perfecting a level just to beat your mate's high score - best £10 quid spent on the xbox.

"I wonder how much of that £3m Red Lynx will actually see - probably a LOT less than they should be getting!"

Developers get 70% on XBLA... presumably after tax has been deducted. So the best part of £2m.

If it had been sold in a box and sold 300,000 copies they probably would have seen a fraction of that.

Seriously, I dont think ive been so addicted into another game for a couple of years now. Im talking about multiple hours when i start playing this damn game and I dont even have the sence of time. Last time I just couldnt believe I had to go to work, meaning I was playing all night long thinking "well I'll just give it a go for a few before sleep"...

Seriously, I love this game and its the ONLY game i'll play over and over the same lvls pleasantly as well, so... That says way too much to me personally. Its worth its money and worth the time. If you dont have it,buy it . and I have cross bikes as well o.O

    @rauper [staff]

Exactly. XBLA games has a much higher profit % than retail games.
  • M4RKYB #21 2 years ago

They deserve every bean they get for creating such a wonderfully playable game.
Loving the track editor too, although I pushed it too far on my last effort and it ran out of available memory and wouldn't save until I had removed a load of stuff.
  • Malek86 #22 2 years ago

@rauper: wasn't that number cut to 35% some time ago? I remember all the developers outcry about it. Did they put it back?

Mind you, it's still more than a million dollars, just for them, all for them. If only I had a million dollars.
  • TONYgr #23 2 years ago

    give us MOREEEE!please.
  • liamthemaster #24 2 years ago

I fucking hate this kind of internet speak......the same people who use it in online gaming in their names are nearly always the smart ass cheating fucks.

  • rogueJT #26 2 years ago

Hard to believe these guys were the N-Gage chief developers. Think they ended up being the only developers for the N-Gage TBH.

Great game mind. Pity the PS3 slim came along about a week after I bought it - I've been on that most of the time, the auld xbox hasn't had a look in.
New console fever, you all know what I'm talking about.

Sony take note - you should be falling over yourselves trying to get the likes of Trials HD, Braid, Shadow Complex etc onto the PSP PSN, with demos available for instant download.

Then you need a decent method of publicising them - so that people actually give a crap about visiting the PSN.

    HEY EUROGAMER STAFF!

Seeing as you're responsible for some incredibly positive TRIALS press do you think you can bend Redlynx's arm to get an update out that makes user maps available to all?!?? pretty please?
  • skillian #32 2 years ago

Don't forget this was a hugely successful indie PC game first, so they will already have scooped up a ton of cash from that.

They've done well, don't worry about that - all fully deserved for an awesome title, of course.
  • B0MBJ4CK #33 2 years ago

This game gave me a massive migraine the first time i played it.
My blood boils and my free time just disappears every time I boot it up.... I love this game.
    Good work lads!
  • TRUTH #34 2 years ago

Trails HD, Shadow Complex, Castle Crashes, Ikurga HD, Rez-HD, R-Type I & II HD, Metal Slug, Marve Vs Capcom 2 HD, Street Fighter II HD, Castlevania SOTN, Braid...and soon Serious Sam HD and Alien Breed; the 360 is XBLIVE is really starting to shine. Reminds me of the good old day on the Snes, but with HD and more power.
  • smurphs #35 2 years ago

No mustard on my bike. That phrase sums it up really (but I'm not sure how). I love the way I can play this game at 6 in the morning and be awesome at it, yet by the afternoon I'm shit again. Weird.
  • geeza2020 #36 2 years ago

i love this game, its just a shame i cant finish that damn last level!!!!
