Transformers game developer, target platforms revealed
All the next-gens.
Activision has announced that Traveller's Tales is developing its upcoming Transformers game for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2 and PC.
The game is also due out on PSP and DS, with those versions handled by Savage and Vicarious Visions respectively.
All are due out in the summer to coincide with the Paramount film that's set to premiere at the same time.
Details on actual game content are still scant, but we do know that you'll be able to play as either Autobots or Decepticons. Here's the rest of the publisher's description:
"Players must master each character’s unique weapons, moves and instantaneous transformations that allow them to effortlessly switch between vehicle and robot mode, as they rampage fully destructible environments smashing everything they encounter and using all objects as weapons along with firepower to obliterate enemies."
Traveller's Tales' most recent successes are the LEGO Star Wars games, both of which have won critical and commercial success by taking a witty and irreverent approach to the source material. We expect the Transformers game will be a bit more straight-faced.
It's actually got something to live up to, as well, since Atari Melbourne House, the last developer to have a stab at the series, did a remarkably good job on PlayStation 2. For more on that, check out our review.

Just make it a straight forward sequal to, the excellent, Transformers Armada, but release it to coincide with the film for added sales.

However, I can't think of many devs more suited to handle the game than TT judging from the love they put into the Lego Star Wars stuff. Great games.

Sure, TT have track record of making license games that aren't shit, but that was when they weren't tied down to a movie launch date.

If this game manages to improve on that (e.g. by giving a wider choice of autobots / decepticons to play and perhaps a bit more variety in terms of the level environments) it'll be a must buy. Unfortunately (and no disrespect to Travellers Tales), the developer change doesn't really inspire me with confidence, but like the first game (which before I played the demo, I thought would be bobbins too) I'm open to persuasion.

Once the wings deploy, that button becomes "airbrake" so you need to tap it and release it to fly any distance.
this design error comes up every time i've seen a thread on that game.
