Sony seems a lot keener t releasing songs on physical media than dlc........ a shame, i'd much prefer to d/lthe individual songs I want, and can't see me ever buying a full disc again.

Will there ever be wireless mics or do we have to wait till PS4?!

As for the disc vs. dlc: I'd be amazed if these tracks didn't show up at all on the network, but as I don't own Singstar it's just a guess. Roughly 50% of the 360 userbase is online and it's that console's USP. So it's likely to be lower on PS3 and the Singstar demographic will probably be overrepresented within the not-online group.

@stampax

Its always a balance with these things I guess. If you like all of the songs its probably cheaper to get the disc than buy them all online. If you like only half of them, its not such a bargain.

Usually they do come out as DLC over the next month-or-two.

@ Les: I'm not so sure about your logic there. The PS3 has built-in wifi and (I found) is pretty easy to set up on a home network. You say that SingStar players aren't likely to do this, but people who spend £300 on a console probably are! I'm not saying you're wrong, only that there are other factors that could suggest otherwise. It would actually be interesting to hear more about that... Hey EG, how about some details on online/offline ratios of the consoles?

More importantly - when can I import PS2 songs into my PS3 SingStar?

Disney SingStar is all I need!

it doesnt matter if users are online or not. Sony dont care, in this respect.

Boxed games on shelves, enforce a retail and therefore public presence and perception that sell more.

Its also apparently easiser for Sony to get licensing rights on disc based stuff.

Expect Lips to do the same when that comes out too.

the lack of wireless microphones is really really odd.

Some of us still think a lot of DLC is shit. I'm sorry - if Im paying for something I'd rather pay more and have it in my hand thanks. So discs for me every time. Same for CD's, DVD's, anything. DLC is killing the idea of collections and its a sad state of affairs.

for most things i prefer a hard copy too, but when it comes to something like singstar i'd favour dlc - added convenience of having it all accessible with just the one disc wins out over a collection argument, not least because i'd rather as small a singstar presence in my games collection as possible - but yea, the convenience of all songs accessible from one disc is good, means pissed up karaoke stays an acceptable distance from my ps3

and where the hell are the wireless mics?!?!?

The singstore is truely terrible. The songs on there are targeted to male gamers despite the fact that this game is probably more popular with females.

There's only 11 good songs on here that I would consider singing - Dizzee Rascal? OK it was a #1 hit but who could possibly attempt to sing that?

Take That and Michael Jackson are the kind of acts I'm wanting to see more of on Singstore - some good old fashioned pop songs are all I ask for, no Coldplay, no Rasmus, no James Morrison etc.
