Toy Home on PAL PSN

And Populous PSone.

Spare a thought for poor old Sony, still slaving away over the hobs of Internet-based file distribution, brow moist with the grimy sweat of a hundred peeled videogame trailers, arms caked with the grease of the fires of user verification wrappers, breath shallow with the [get on with it - Ed] - and all so we can play Toy Home (GBP 4.99) and the PSone's Populous: The Beginning (GBP 3.49).

There's also a TimeShift multiplayer demo, which is all we wanted for Christmas, the Guitar Hero III Boss Battle Pack Xbox 360 got yonks ago, and of course Warhawk's downloadable expansion pack Operation: Omega Dawn (GBP 3.99), which has some additional night-time levels where you move the Sixaxis in a vigorous up and down motion to de-ice the new dropship.

There is also a new MotorStorm "Holiday Paint Job" (not clear if you get paid) along with numerous trailers (oh, I get it now) including one for Devil May Cry 4, and others including TV adverts for Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. Not content with all that, you can grab some more wallpapers - Uncharted, High Stakes on the Vegas Strip, and some PAIN ones. There are also some new themes: Retro, Nature, Manga, Pixels. Which would be a good name for a band.

Grabbed the Warhawk expansion first thing. Sweeeeet.

Snakeball is also on the EU store ;)

I tried the US Toy Home demo and hated the enforced motion controls which is a real shame as the game itself looked interesting. I notice the UK version only has the option to buy it for £4.99 which is a bit sneaky of Sony, don't you think? Anyone interested in buying this game should be aware of that. If you can download the US demo first rather than risk buying the UK version outright as you may regret it when you realise you can't control the bloody cars!

    @Beano.

Is it? I didn't see that. Are you sure you are not talking about the Snakeball theme?
  • HiddenAway #5 4 years ago

...and they don't think to put Populous on the PC-PSP store where we got one trailer. ONE!

Have to agree with Darren. Toy Home is a must "Try Demo First" title so you can help push the "Must Not Force Motion Controls" idea to devs by not buying it!

Saw someone mention on another website that the Snakeball demo WAS on the EU store for a while but that it had been removed again after a few hours.

    No Populous in Portugal :(
  • MossyMos #9 4 years ago

Don't worry SeesThroughAll, unless I am missing something there is no way to play it on the PSP. Without being able to remap the directional pad to the right thumbstick it is impossible to play properly (right stick scrolls the map). How Popolous got labeled as for PS3 AND PSP I have no idea. Fine on the PS3 but just taking up space on the PSP.

Wonder if some enterprising soul could create a firmware that allowed you to connect a PS3 controller to the PSP using a mini usb to mini usb cable?

i downloaded toy home and the motion controls were awful but the game is still awsome and im glad i bought it,and i find the sega saturn style transparency affects quite amusng (the car windows).

Toy Home is nice for children.

That's probably the reason that the motion controls are so insensitive.

    WARNING!

Do not bother with the UK PSN download of Warhawk OO Pack as it is incompatible with the US Blu Ray version!

Now to get blood from a stone...
  • Big-Swiss #13 4 years ago

Toy Home is only fun in 2P Mode, but that has entertained us for a few evenings!

    DON'T BUY "Toy Home"

It's a REALLY BAD Micro Machines-esque spin-about. The graphics are worse than the PSOne version of MM.

I'm gonna ask for my money back from PSN. WHAT A RIP-OFF!
