Darren little big planet looks ok but from what Ive seen, its not the second coming now is it? Whats really that fresh or innovative about it that we havent seen before in some shape or form? Sony themselves dont innovate despite what they claim they have little involvement within the dev community, well none that has helped in a big way(some will say theyve done the opposite).

Ive been playing them aslong as you(well that which matters... lets face it pre-1980 isnt worth mentioning) Home isnt really all that fresh when you think about it properly it seems really tacky and gimmicky to me(I really would prefer they just offer something quick and intuitive rather than slowing everything down when you just want to get on and play)... you see Im not easily sold on Sony's hype and it seems you are Im afraid... they very rarely ever deliver half as much as they promise all the while critisising the competition to create a false ora of confidence which some people buy into all to easily. I really dont care if they dont end up in third place but in my book they are the most deserving of that position, it would be quite sad if not because that would give Sony the impression they can do no wrong because they will always have fans that will beleive anything they can think up.(really its embaressing watching gamers repeat their PR crap in a serious discussion)

Calgon, personally I think it's embarassing to know there are people out there who would buy a 360 with the knowledge of how unreliable they are. Don't preach about people who buy PS3s because of what Sony says - at least they've developed a console that won't break down every few months.

penguin_overlord how long have you been at this? How sad... you probably want Sony to win more than Sony does, Falcons are seemingly alot more reliable than the older versions(there is no denying this is the logical conclusion "based on circumstancial evidence" so far as many a troll was saying about this time last year) and Id think Falcon 360s are the most common version in the retail channels by now... thats set to improve further still this year with yet another revision. Tell me what do you have to knock the 360 with if it was proved its much more reliable now? Would you deny it and carry on with your FUD campaign?

See the difference is:
1) I gave an opinion and it was not aimed at everyone who buys a PS3 for a start, its the Sonybots especially of the trolling kind ;)
2) I gave it as my own opinion which Im entitled to(besides it being a totally true observation), and to top it off despite my lack of trust in Sony and in the PS3, atleast Im in the right place, you on the other hand!...

some crazy anti xbox comments here
for reliability check out the notes on future revision via http://www.8bitjoystick.com/

I have an xbox sent it back 4 times too in 2years it been away a total of 2months with longest wait last time round (3weeks)
but its a damn fine gaming console and some excellent games too and

@Darran
what about Lost oddy? and before that Mass Effect, Oblivion, eternal sonata? all very good game?
the xbox has an excellent library 2nd to none.

Anyway if a Blurry Add on Drive come out for xbox360 i'll get one!
I'd rather get a new gfx card for a PC right now then a ps3! oh and a BRdrive for a HTPC

MS made a good decision to not include a HDDVD it got the console out early because of that
and means game will be developed for it for quite some time!

@Calgon - LittleBigPlanet and Home look intriguing is all I'm saying, far more interesting than anything Microsoft has come up with for the Xbox 360 to date anyway (IMO) hence my "safe" comment. The great thing about owning all three current consoles is that they all offer something different but out of them all I feel the PS3 offers the most potential. I don't expect you to agree but having seen what kinds of games the PS2 had, I feel it's likely to be the most varied, thanks to those quirky Japanese.

360s have been fairly reliable for some time now. I have four other friends in different parts of the world with 360s who have owned them between 1-2 years and there have not been any rrods. Funny thing is, one friend bought a PS3 during X-mas for the 7-9 free BDs, played some GH3 and COD4 on it and now it's in the shop. Point is, reliability is too unpredictable to use as factor in purchasing this gen consoles. If you like 360 you should buy a 360. If you like Ps3 them do likewise.

Yes Darren, I'm bitter because I'm currently enjoying The Fast & The Furious Trilogy, Heroes, Hot Fuzz, Sean Of The Dead, Serenity, Transformers, World Trade Centre, and countless other films such as Batman Begins, The Prestige, Poseiden, Swordfish, TMNT, and others all with HDi, and no loading, and you're not.

Yep, really bitter...

It's almost done..

"Japanese news site Nikkei.net has just announced that Toshiba's plan is to immediately stop manufacturing all HD-DVD products (both players and recorders), and to stop selling them at end of March. The official announcement will happen at the press conference set for 5 PM Tokyo time. We'll be back with Toshiba's official statement as soon as it comes in.

Thanks to Keiko S. for the translation and links. Stay tuned..."

Darren well thats you I was just saying Home isnt really interesting or new to me(well as an interface for an online service maybe but I find it tacky and unnecessary as I said), I did find little big planet a little bit interesting but anywhere neer enough to say PS3 games are going to be more interesting? Not a chance for me, plus it doesnt seem like a game that youd spend a long time on, just 5 mins here and there, nothing too serious about it... for those kinds of experiences I could easily look to Live Arcade to provide which is the front runner for digital distribution in many devs minds.

The quirky Japanese games found on the PS2 were not much to do with Sony themselves, they were only there because of Sony's dominance... and this time around Nintendo are the only ones looking to dominate especially in Japan, you cant argue with that. So perhaps what you meant to say is Wii offers the most potential for what you wantl(assuming you were talking about the games only... if you meant hardware? 360 is more than a match for PS3s potential where it matters).

I never said there was anything wrong with favouring Sony, which to me is the only explanation for some of the things youve said but to pretend otherwise is a waste of time, not quite sure if this is what you were trying to do(because to be fair Ive not seen anything Id call trolling from you) but we've all seen this troll tactic: "Im really a 360 fan but even I admit SONY FUCKING ROCKs! I SOLDED MA EGGSBOX 360 OMG TEH PS3 IS TEH BEST EVAR" lol

No doubt owning all 3 youd find each has something to offer or they wouldnt sell at all, it all depends on how much cash and time you can afford to spend on your gaming, so sometimes it comes down to what you think is the best choice with the best future and thats always been pretty easy to me bar a few blips(RROD). I can only imagine what an impressive library 360 could have if they continue to improve like they have over Xbox so far... they have made big strides in diversity, more can be done but you know what? its a far more varied and quality library than PS3s as it is, so I find some remarks baffling quite frankly(it wasnt even necessarly true in the Xbox days but to use that excuse as things stand now? doesnt add up IMO and many others have said it too).

Lets just hope we all get plenty of the types of games we feel make it all worth while then, the close competition may well be whats needed to make that happen.
