Top Spin 2 was bloody awful, so hopefully this will be a big improvement. Virtua Tennis 3 was one of the best games released this year in my opinion, and I spent more time than I care to imagine playing it online (especially doubles, which is great fun). This seems to be going for more of a sim-like approach though, which is fine too. I just hope they don't forget to include the fun.

Thank god they've got rid of the bl**dy training mini games. I've been crying out for a tennis game that let you develope your character by playing matches instead of stupid mini games since the wimbledon tennis game on the game gear donkeys years ago.

This has now gone high up on my wanted list.

I really enjoyed Top Spin 2 at the time of its release but it's now completely overshadowed by the wonderful Virtua Tennis 3. The gameplay still holds up well but the camera angles are annoying and the facial likenesses of the pros was, on reflection, awful. I did like the way you played against other non-pro players though, that made it feel like more of a proper tennis game than VT3, which has you playing the same handful of big names over and over again.

If Top Spin 3 can improve on its postive aspects, add some decent mini-games, tweak the camera angles to something more usable and tart up the graphics to VT3 standards, then it should be great. I'd certainly buy it again.

I hope they remove the morale shots that take no timing or skill to use, and get rid of the slice serve or atleast make it so it doesn't turn also 90 degrees.

I really hope this is good. I'm pretty bored of Virtua Tennis now. It's the same game as it ever was :/

I will go out on a limb here and say that I really, really like Top Spin 2. I preferred it to VT3, whose constant jack-in-the-box slipping and sliding and getting back up was too much for me to bear. I am not saying that it is a bad game - it is just not to my taste - I also enjoyed it but not that much.

I also think Top Spin 2 looked fantastic. The only irritants were lack of widescreen on PC version, and impossibly difficult advanced shots. I hope they fix that up at least.

Really like the sound of this. I have held off on a tennis game on either the 360 or the PS3. Was tempted by Virtua Tennis 3 and I did play and enjoy it on the PSP. SOunds like this could be the one to watch.

As long as they fixed that glitch in Top Spin 2 whereby you serve a 70mph slice serve out wide on the deuce court and ALWAYS win the point I am sold.

Both TS2 and VT3 were crap compared to TP1. I hope they go back this road.

+1

For me TS is to VT what Fifa is to PES now. A more realistic, slow paced and tactical representation of its sport
