loved the 360 version - gonna try this to see if my pc can cope. If it can then i can save myself a few quid :)

Gamershell has the demo and the servers are faster than fileshack.

If it is the latter - do yourself a favour and avoid playing Alone in the Dark 4 on the 360 - don't think I have been that frustrated by a game before in years!

I have problems launching it. Could my Radeon 9600 pro be too old :)?

The game is as similar to Anniversary as Anniversary was to Legend. On the other hand, it's been long enough for me to crave for a Tomb Raiderish game. The story seems quite interesting, as well, so long as we don't actually get to battle deities, unless in a metaphysical manner (surviving an extremely strong storm, for example).

Or indeed just some not very solid controls. I like to think I have some non-aged gaming skills and I found a lot of the climbing and acrobatics rather fiddly and unintuitive. I liked the 'environmenal puzzle' atmostphere of the whole thing, and it was quite fun to work out what you were meant to do, but getting there was quite difficult some times - how many times did people climb that inital rock column?

And don't get me started on fighting those f*cking tigers!

Four or five times, although I kept falling merely because I couldn't figure out where to jump. This is why I think Underworld's better than Legend or Anniversary - the climbing's not as big as a challenge as the figuring out where to go.

And don't get me started on fighting those f*cking tigers!
They're quite easy to deal with - dodge (while aiming, press the same button you press to drop or cancel the cutscene and move the analog stick away from the tiger) when they rush at you, kick 'em if they're close or shoot them in the head if your adrenaline's full (the second Lara figure in the HUD).

If you've played Legend or Anniversary before, then you shouldn't have problems playing Underworld, or your gaming skills really have aged. ;)

My older Nvidia card can play the Orange Box games in pretty reasonable quality but even with options turned down the TR demo stutters about so badly it was deleted within 10 mins.

You should. Before playing Underworld, you should play Legend and then Anniversary, otherwise the story might be confusing. And, well, those are fun games. Not instant classics, but fun nonetheless.

I physically cringed upon hearing the word "Zip" again and watching the f*****s appear in the cutscene. S***, they're back. Please, let them only appear this once in the complete, finished game. Guess them being in the game makes sense, but I was hoping they'd make a quiet exit after Anniversary. Gah.

For the rest, I enjoyed the demo because Lara learned quite a few new and cool Parkour moves, but fundamentally the same criticisms still apply as far as I'm concerned: too linear (divergence is nonexistent, secrets are bumped into en route), too easy (the route to follow is way too obvious), silly combat (haven't tried the "get to higher ground" strategy yet, but the good old "blam blam roll blam blam" still works fine).

After Fable 2 and Fallout 3, this should therefore be a definite 10 from Eurogamer.

Console exclusive demos? FFS...Surely that's Eidos taking Msoft loyalty a little TOO far?

With that level of console bias, why do I get the impression that the PS3 version will be a completely hopeless port, and as such not even worth using as a beer mat?

This game looks gorgeous on my PC at 1680x1050 with 2X AA, more so than the 360 version. And it runs really well for the most part, although it gets oddly laggy in places and suffers from pauses (much like TR: Legends did actually). According to the Readme file this is an issue with NVIDIA drivers which the developers are aware of. If they fix that then I'll pick up the PC version next year as with an Xbox 360 controller it is more enjoyable than the 360 version purely because of the eye-candy.

Yeah, just completed the demo on the PC. The Game looks stunning on my 4850 at 1080p. Amazing water effects, and its also a lot of fun to play. Might be worth buying.

Personal opinion as a person that LOVED TR till that crappy angel of darkness came out ported from the damn PS2 to a PC and ruined the series for good... and was at least glad to play the remake last year.

The game looks stunning, the movement on one hand looks amazing and then again some times you get the feel thats kinda robotic or as if its missing frames or something. It's very odd. The Combat with the lions was a bit disturbing if you get close to any rocks while trying to dodge & shoot 2 at a time since they dont give you easily the chance to get back up and finish one off to be able to give a fair enjoyable fight. Targeting system is more than fine with tweaked the one of the last games in the series. The Demo lvl is great itself even tho I have a 360 controller connected to the pc and the lvl seemed way to easy with more than plenty health packs all over the demo lvl and the only time i killed myself was when i fell from a bugged button reaction ingame...

Overall the demo gets a 9.5/10 for me cause it made FINALLY TR look intresting and refreshing to me. Great game I hope will be the release of it :) gg
