Tomb Raider Anniversary dated
Late May says retail.
According to most major retailers, Tomb Raider Anniversary will be out on 25th May.
Eidos echoed this statement to Eurogamer earlier, telling us the game will be available next month.
The game will be available for PC, PS2 and PSP, but it isn't yet known whether the PS2 version will be compatible with PlayStation 3.
Tomb Raider Anniversary is inspired by the very first adventure in the legendary series. Developer Crystal Dynamics promises caves full of new thrills, all wrapped up in the engine used for last year's Tomb Raider Legend.
It was originally planned to be a 10th year celebration, but has since slipped into the 11th year of the Tomb Raider series.

Edit: I know they tend to announce the 360 version late but I still think they could announce it by now.

Earlier (in the year) the head of Eidos was already talking about how much we'd be amazed by the continuance of the tale spun in Legend. (remember, that would be the first TR designed specifically on the new hardware)
Maybe the priority has shifted more to delivering on his hype?
Hope you're right, Krudster - and I've a sneaking suspicion you are.

PC is last gen? LOL, you console kiddies crack me up! You call 8800 GTX and Core 2 last gen??? PC FTW!!!111

No but the price you have to pay for a pc to run games at the same spec as ps3 is just not worth it,
pcs are just a pain up the backside for games, not worth the bother.

And do you REALLY think they wouldve spent much time improving the pc version from the ps2 version to take advantage of that power?

Not really.

I have to say though, if it is, as I understand it is, planted firmly in the platform/puzzler bracket then I'm getting a semi already.
I was recently considering picking up TR:L for my 360 for £13 at HMV, should I wait for this instead?
Oh and for the record, I'm firmly in the atmospheric, isolated puzzler camp rather than the shooting things camp. If I want to kill things then I'll buy some 360 fps bollox ffs.
BTW, is this really not going to be out for the PS3? Does that console have ANY AAA games being released??? (No GH2 too, right?!)

Maybe it would have cost them too much to develop? Who knows....

I'd have thought Sony would have put up a ton of wedge to compensate for the relatively small userbase so the devs would deliver this on the PS3. Seems bizarre that this is going to be available on every other console except the PS3.
That 'new console' excuse is starting to wear a little thin now it's been out for 6 months ...
Oh and ditto all that for GH2 ...

Hmmm.. 120 million ps2's.. 3 million ps3's.. yeah that makes BRILLIANT sense.
Comment below viewing threshold Show
Yes, it makes perfect sense unless you think 3 million potential customers aren't worth bothering with?

To make the game worth buying on ps3, it'd have to be an almost complete re-write (again) to take advantage of the ps3's power.
Just upping the resolution, putting a few extra effects, etc in wouldnt make it a "must buy" for a ps3 owner is it? For the 3 million who want something good, to convince them to buy it, it'd have to be signifiicantly better. And that costs money.
Also bare in mind that even motorstorm (probably The ps3's best game currently) is tanking in sales. If the 3 million owners arent going to buy it's best game, they certainly arent gonna to buy a ps2 port of a souped up ps1 game are they?
Think about it.

I'd love to know how many people bought a launch PS3 purely for the Blu-Ray player. I suspect it's an extremely high proportion and it's having a huge affect on s/w sales as these people are rarely, if ever, going to be buying games ...
