Stupid name but game could be good though I'm not buying Ubisoft games again until they up their quality significantly. Enough is enough really. Pity Vegas 2 sold so much, they know they can get away with shoddy products.

TagemandBagem: Real-life locations, possibly more realistic weaponry as well. And perhaps not a horribly hackneyed "plot" like in AC6.

When reading about this game regarding private companies being used to fight aerial wars,I thought ...oh so its strike commander the old origin game from 1993 that also was about private companies fighting aerial wars.

Looks very shiny. Perhaps shinier than Ace Combat.

But.

But, but, but... surely in this kind of aircraft, in the future, most conflict is going to be so hilariously Beyond Visual Range that you're never going to see much of the shiny aircraft. Apart from your own, perhaps.

This is why fighter sims worked fine on the PC ten years ago: you were launching missiles at boxes in the HUD. Sure, it needed to look nice for the chase-cam... but you were mainly focused on little green boxes.

(By contrast, propeller-dogfighting games can ALWAYS do with a look and feel overhaul).

the name is so bad, it could nearly be good bar one thing

a roommare i had, his gradnmother was senile. nice old lady, just, you know, not all there. The thing is, she LOVED, LOVED, LOVED, Airwolf. Swear to god. Airwolf, just couldn't get enough of it. So, all she'd ever ask for, or say, is put HAAAWKK on, is HAAWKK on? Wheres HHHAWWKK?

And now, when i see that that name, i cant help but think of an old womans illicit love for strongfellow hawk.

This is all dog-fighting? No bombing, transport, reconnaissance, or frankly, anything that would legitimise it being a Clancy game? I just want to find out what sort of flying game this is.

Not sure atm but they need to show some closer shots of the ground to see if the textures turn into a pixelated mess.

i guess calling it HAWKS was just too sensible for Ubi.....oh well :(

But what if we've already finished that several months ago - twice? Would a first person shooter fan (or any game genre for that matter) settle for pretty much just one single game in the entire genre, because that's pretty much the current state of affairs in console flight "sims", isn't it?

Surely another game - or several - would be more than welcome, even if it turns out to be very similar to Ace Combat in most areas (but hopefully not with cutscenes and dialogue that's even remotely as emberrasingly and laughably bad as what we got in Ace Combat 6. Not that it was really important to the gameplay, which I loved, but damn - that "plot" and dialogue was really, seriously teethgrindingly bad, so much that I truly hope for the poor writers that something must have gotten lost in the translation from Japanese to English :)).

If they have any sense at all they will add Strike Commander esk resourse management and a variable route plot into it. It's something thats been lacking from the otherwise great Ace Combat series and would really make this stand out. They'll probably just make the explosions look prettier though . .

propeller-dogfighting games and WW1 for the win.

I had great fun flying these planes on the Amiga years ago... what was it called hmm... Knights of the Sky!

A proper cheese fest Top Gun simulator... now that I'd buy. Merlin, Merlin! I think.
