Slagging off a tactical shooter for being tactical?

For me the big question is: having played the excellent X360 version, should I also buy this?

It's an entirely different game, so why not? It's about £18 from certain outlets online.

I am getting a sense of unease about all these wargames where US grunts kill "insurgents". I am starting to see an ethical issue there... I know they are supposed to be only games, but still...

Tried a bit of this game the other night. Nice, well designed. Easy to use tactical map and on-screen interface. However, as the review does point out, no personality whatsoever and very little actual excitement. Of course, I only played the very beginning so it is entirely possible the later stages might suck me in, however, as far as I can tell, tactical challenges rely almost solely on the initial positioning of the enemies (whose AI doesn't seem to grant them any freedom in deciding what to do and where to go next) and the scripted nature of events in the game is somewhat welcome but can't replace proper tactical gameplay. On a plus side, the art is pretty good, the phsyics seem to be very beefed up..

just finished this on the 360. great game but way way too short. I wish (and hope at some time in the future) they take a bit of the shinyness out of some of these titles and put a bit more content in

"A new overhead tactical map mode means long chains of orders can be set for one or all of those dog-robots in the guise of men, even down to the direction they face and the width of their firing arc. "

Wow, I can't imagine anything more boring.

@krudster: thanks. Were it not this late to the party, I would have gone out and bought it already

GRAW and GRAW 2 are not "ports" of the console versions... who reviewed this? Someone completely oblivious to the console versions of GRAW 1 and 2??

While the 360 version was excellent, something kept nagging me: I kept feeling I was play-acting in a war simulation rather than actually fighting. I hope the PC version does away with that.

Anyone else think that maybe they could stand to drop a few words from the title?

I found the first game rather dry and lifeless, much like the city it took place in.

This sounds like more of the same.
